Does anyone know any great self-pace #courses on #accessibily for #frontend and #web development? I'd like to get better at it, especially in light of upcoming regulations in the #EU.
I just looked it up and I have been using xScope for web development for 10 years now! It started off as a way to help meet designers’ asks for pixel perfection, but even in the age of fluid web layouts it's been crucial in helping to check alignment and spacing for consistency.
I’m a #frontend developer at Factorial, a small web agency in #Hamburg, Germany. I also do some open source software development.
I dig #StarWars and #StarTrek, especially the recent additions to these universes. It so happens that those are progressive-leftist and #queer (mostly). Really nice to see!
I’m non-binary and my pronouns are they/them. I’m pushing for a gender-inclusive German language, which is also a fun opportunity to smash the patriarchy.
Today I was going through an old slide deck from a super serious presentation I gave last year ('cus, you know, updating for current CSS supported features). This slide still makes me smile. #frontend#chrome#pokemon#eevee#webdev
I’m not a big fan of summary/details generally because it’s just too inconsistent, but dialogs are great. And I didn’t actually know about input type="color" yet.
Lost with CSS terminology? Selectors info is a nice tool that highlights different selector types and combinators in a CSS declaration: https://selectors.info/
Why so many dark themes on apps and websites are 100% black?
That's one of the first rules of colour theory in design: never use 100% white or 100% black, they're just bad to the eyes, and hard to read because of the excessive contrast.
Instead, while trying not to burn my retina staring at a light theme I can sometimes get some bad eyes strain from staring at a 100% black BG and 100% white FG UI.
My name is Dominic, I'm fast approaching my 40's, Bi in a hetoro mariage and I'm learning to become a web developer.
I currently work in IT Support for an ambulance service and I'm teaching myself #webDev using the #Scrimba course for #FrontEnd. My aim is to finish before I hit the big 4 0, so keep me accountable?
If you have an opportunity to attend this #FrontEnd study hall hosted by @artlung , do it!
The first session was amazing and super informative. As a result, ended up refactoring and simplifying the chaotic mess that was my stylesheets😊 Was unable to attend the second, unfortunately, but looking forward to the third this Thursday.
Here’s my latest case study for a server-rendered HTML of a Mastodon feed with only one progressive enhancement web component (github’s relative-time) — it turned out (surprisingly) pretty good if I may say so myself 🥹
Honestly, the #web is unusable without an adblocker and some form of “tweaks” app these days. Ads are one thing but all these cookie and newsletter banners and autoplay videos. I’m so happy when I find my results on pages like Wikipedia.. #frontend
