If you're in any of the places in California this rain is pounding down and tweeting photos/videos, please use the #CAwx hashtag so folks can find it.
Dr. Daniel Swain was just saying that with the state of Txitter, we've lost a great central site for sharing live weather/climate info. Let's make sure people can find it on Mastodon.
Per https://t.co/eNnIXlbAP5, more than 550,000 customers (equating to around 1,375,000 people by my math) are now experiencing wind-related outages in California--and these numbers are rapidly increasing as winds escalate across SF Bay Area and Central Valley. #CAwxhttps://t.co/zCMwxJl9pT

#DanielSwain says there's a high potential for dangerous flash #flooding events on Sunday around the transverse ranges (and anywhere between bay area and southern border), very #windy near coast, in valley, the grapevine. Don't go up into or cross the before Monday, just don't.

The wind may cause power outages. If without power, unplug & turn off appliances. Leave a light on to signal when power back. Candles cause fires. Use flashlights instead. Only call 911 for life safety emergencies. Contact 311 to report all other issues. https://www.sf72.org/hazard/electric-outages

Rather strong inter-model ensemble agreement at the moment regarding the growing possibility of a significant and potentially prolonged heatwave across most of the Western U.S. starting around Jun 5-6 as strong/broad ridge builds. Details TBD. #CAwx#CAfire
Prepare for rising heat ahead of time. Check batteries for items you need in case there are planned shut-offs by utilities. Replace those that are dying or dead. Keep rechargeables charged. Freeze bottled water so you have cold water available if power goes out. Repair or replace fans you need.
Think through your needs when it gets hot, including if the power goes out. Prepare now.
Make sure you're assessing your situation: What would you do if power went out due to the utility shutting it off to reduce fire risk or due to too many people using the grid at the same time? Need to replace batteries? Have enough ice packs on hand? What's your emergency plan, esp if there's a fire & you have to evacuate during a heat wave?
If you're abled, ask disabled friends if they'd like help and what form they want that help to take in an emergency.
In case there ends up being a wildfire during a heatwave or there's another natural disaster that affects you as a disabled person, The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies has a hotline you should put in your phonebook.
