Bonjour les Mastonautes. Il me semble que c’est Mercredi aujourd’hui ? Pfff cette semaine me paraît interminable. Un café ? ☕️ (ou autre) #bonjour#cafe
Ça fait des semaines que régulièrement, le matin, je croise sur la route du boulot, une jolie brune qui me fait regretter d'avoir bien 10 ans de trop pour lui sourire 😞
Nikki Haley literally autographing artillery shells in Israel
Whatever one's feelings about what's happening over there, and however much one can rationalize away the "unfortunate reality of collateral damage," the sheer bloodthirst on display here should make anyone ill
So, this guy takes out his new AI phone from Samsung and takes a photo of the table we're sitting at. Then he does some magic stuff with his AI and shows me the picture.
"Look," he says to me. "There are three glasses on the table and in the picture there are five. Isn't AI amazing!" And he laughed.
And all I could think was that this is happening in millions of places every minute of the day. All this energy. All this water. All these materials.
@gerrymcgovern
My Samsung got this update. The app can remove an element from the picture and simulate what's behind... OK, but this tech exists for more than 10 years on PC, some smartphones apps allowed to do that for years, and there is nothing "AI" about this.
Only let me read a quarter of it for free, but it kinda just sounds like another loophole exploit that can delay results a very long time or indefinitely.
And it sounds like she was selected with this sole and exact purpose.
Cool. Cool. 😳
Any tips for consoling a four year old who is suddenly very very upset about the idea of death and dying?
We're making it clear he's got a long long long time to be alive yet, as have we, while trying to be real and not tell any fairy stories - but he's very young of course and can't imagine ever being sort of "done" and really really doesn't want to ever die 😭
(Please nothing about climate change etc. in this situation - I'm well aware I've brought a child into a period of change that sucks.)
@angstlotse yes agreed we aren't telling him to stop being sad about death, but that if he's sad every day about dying then the life he gets will be less fun 💜
@brinnbelyea@msquebanh
RN here since 1998. Since then nursing has grown more complex, more demand for science and critical thinking at the bedside or in clinic or home health or community health. Nursing is the first and last advocate for patient care and safety. Hospitalized patients are sicker as a group, with more meds, more risk of complications from multiple health issues. Nurses and all staff must be alert at all times to catch complications. And, provide compassionate care.
@msquebanh@brinnbelyea jup, Germany is the same, too. It's a symptom of capitalism in healthcare. Hospitals should not have to optimize for monetary gain alone, but for care quality on a given budget. Capitalism literally kills in this context.
The American no-solidarity system makes things worse faster than our compulsory healthcare insurance, but we feel the same effects nonetheless.
@stux It reminded me of the intro music to the series "Good Omens", and I had to verify they weren't the same. Very similar, though, both being waltzes.
@actuallyautistic#actuallyautistic
Read an article recently that claimed autistic individuals are less likely to succumb to marketing and impulse buying. I think this is true about myself.
I am aware that AuDHD can often work against this, and make shopping a dreadful experience because of the push and pull of "wanting" but not "needing" something. I'd love to hear y'all's experiences/opinions.
@gnaddrig@chevalier26@actuallyautistic there are rare times ads have been useful for me -- actually prompted a purchase, even -- and each time it's been because I had no idea such a thing existed
I’m AuADHD, & generally rather frugal. Occasionally my ADHD, or maybe my Austistic gullibility, or my ADHD RSD (or just plain not so smart decision making) might’ve had me lash out on something not so wise & or a bit expensive. More often though, when I have lashed out, it’s been something really good at a good price that I’ve been really happy with. Like a half price leather jacket that I’ve had lots of wear out of.
