I will never forgive Elon Musk for making Twitter so terrible that people think LinkedIn is acceptable to use.

TIL that LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft.

@LALegault Yikes. LinkedIn is even worse than I thought.

2020: Microsoft sets goal to be carbon negative by end of the decade.

2023: Microsoft's emissions are 30% higher than in 2020.

Main cause? The relentless push to meet AI demand, which requires new data centers built out of carbon-intensive steel, cement, chips.

Explain to me like I'm 10 years old: Is the Biden tariffs on electric vehicles, batteries, and solar panels coming from China motivated 100% by politics (and maybe racism), or is there some other (more legit) reason to do it?

Hey climate deniers, tell me what you do for a living and I'll tell you how you're doing it wrong based on what my crazy uncle read on the internet.

@Reiddragon That's a job for ChatGPT, I'm told (by people on the internet).

This is the funniest thing ever!

“…researchers who wanted to avoid plagiarism detectors had swapped out key scientific terms for synonyms from automatic text generators, leading to comically misfit phrases. ‘Breast cancer’ became ‘bosom peril’; ‘fluid dynamics’ became ‘gooey stream’; ‘artificial intelligence’ became ‘counterfeit consciousness.’”

I had the privilege of giving a talk at Math for America, and it was inspiring to meet all the teachers who were supported by that program.

Just returned from Iceland 🇮🇸, where we're planning an experiment this summer. What impressed me most was not the natural beauty, severe weather, or Icelandic horses.

The most impressive thing about Iceland was how helpful and accommodating everyone was. It's like nowhere else.

A big ass waterfall in Iceland.

“Federal regulators on Monday approved sweeping changes to how America’s electric grids are planned & funded, in a move that supporters hope could spur thousands of miles of new high-voltage power lines and make it easier to add more wind & solar energy.”

Is this a safe space to point out that the largest direct air capture plant in the world — designed to remove 36,000 tonnes of CO₂ each year — is a time machine that takes us back 28 seconds in a year? 🥲
