I need to upgrade my static site since I have a bunch of articles to post and just hit the limit of maintainable complexity. Which static site generators do you recommend to someone new to the concept? Why?

    I was today years old when I learned that in order to do a <br> line break without starting a new paragraph in #Markdown to #HTML formatters, „you end a line with two or more spaces, then type return.“

    Wonder how? Via #Spotify of all things. They support podcast chapters if you put them in your shownotes YouTube style. But only if the lines are divided by <br> and not as paragraphs.

    I love the unspecificality „two or more spaces“

    @gruber @pranabekka In my specific scenario it is rendered as "<br>" since the formatter is HTML-agnostic.

    The way most #Markdown note editors function is my personally preferred way although It's kinda dirty. Namely by adding a line break when hitting Enter. It does the job in most cases.

    @vowe Weder einzigartig für Mastodon, noch grundlegend was absurdes dran. Wer kommuniziert, muss mit Kommunikation rechnen. Wann hört Volker Weber endlich auf, Plattformen, Paradigmen und Tribes zu vermischen?

    Wir haben es verstanden, Sie mögen "Mastodon" nicht. Was auch immer für ein übervereinfachtes Ding in Ihrem Verständnis ist.

    iPad feature I'd love: deep sleep. I find whenever I go a few days or a week between using an iPad, it's often dead or almost dead. An auto-deep sleep mode after 24 hours of non-use would be awesome, even if it took 5 seconds or so to wake back up

    @christianselig I have an automation that switches off all connections via airplane mode, turns on battery saver and puts brightness to a minimum.

    The automation is toggled by a focus mode that I created.

    Whenever I am about to leave the iPad unused for a while I toggle the "iPad Deep Sleep" focus on. It also switches on at night automatically.

    This improved battery life a lot, actually.

    @tazgetroete Ein unscharfer Artikel, der analytisch daherkommen will aber nicht ausreichend tief geht. Der genannten Clubszene pauschal Antisemitismus zu unterstellen ist krasse Grütze. Positionen und Kommentare Zugehöriger mögen kacke sein oder auch nicht gut diesen Konflikt analysieren. Das ist zu kritisieren. Aber Übervereinfachung vorwerfen und selbst ebendiese abliefern? Das ist schwach und schädlich. Macht lieber Tiefenanalyse und keine ReaktionärInnentrigger-Artikel.

    @bmdv @google Nicht "uns" hilft dies "KI" voranzubringen sondern #Alphabet . Ich behaupte Deutschland hat was den KI Fortschritt betrifft herzlich wenig davon, ws ein US-Konzern in seiner Halle macht.

    Bluesky-Hype: Man sollte meinen, dass der Niedergang von #Twitter/#X gezeigt hat, warum Plattformen, die von einem einzigen Unternehmen kontrolliert werden, eine miese Idee sind.

    Bei #Mastodon liegen Inhalte auf verschiedenen Instanzen (Servern), die von Nutzern/Institutionen selbst betrieben werden und kein Unternehmen einen Besitzanspruch darauf hat. Die dezentrale Struktur von #Bluesky ist zwar ähnlich, aber man ist weiterhin vom Wohlwollen eines Unternehmens abhängig.

    @kuketzblog #UX killed the privacy star. Leider. Aber was nicht ist, kann noch werden. Hoffe, es gibt stärkere Bemühungen, eine out-of-the-box #Mastodon Erfahrung zu bieten. Denn genau das wollen viele Leute und bekommen es bei #Bluesky.

    Rechtslibertäre Tendenzen wiederholen sich auch dort. Der Fisch stinkt vom Kopf. Bis zum Himmel.
