I think this is going to be the norm... recently a family member of a friend of mine was in Florida and had an accident, and ended up dying in hospital there instead of at home - no beds were available in Ontario https://globalnews.ca/news/10460063/injured-man-abroad-hospital-beds/
"Trans children and youth often come out at school to experience affirmation from their peers and staff before coming out to their families for good reason: the stakes of family rejection are very high, as evidenced by the fact that as many as 40 per cent of homeless youth in Canada are LGBTQ." "A left that does not even attempt to address millions of newly-disabled people who have been harmed and then abandoned by the state, many of whom are falling into economic duress and even homelessness, is unserious. A left that actively contributes to the spread of the illness and mocks those attempting to mitigate it, is dangerous." https://www.thegauntlet.news/p/why-wear-a-mask-to-a-protest
It's such an important point that actually, some of us can't afford to get sick. I've tried to explain this to a few people when they ask why I'm wearing a mask. Not everyone has family or anyone else around to help them if they can't take care of themselves. Not everyone can cover the costs of not working for a week, two weeks, or more. Not everyone can take the risk of just repeatedly catching an illness where the period of sickness can be indefinite.
Serious question... does anyone know how to make a change to something on Google Maps? There is a serious problem with how people are directed to my street, it happens every week with a delivery I receive, and one guy just spent 20 minutes looking for my place!
@Wraithe I think it may have done. I received emails saying they had approved the change I made, and now when I go to get directions via Google Maps, it no longer sends people to the wrong place - I'm interested to see what happens with the next delivery 😬
"...there is a “homegrown” movement of anti-trans sentiments in Canada, which is “selectively drawing from the resources of the United States.”
“That's really scary,” Ashley said. “That sentiment has been spreading for a while, but it's getting worse and worse. And what sucks is the feeling that nobody cares.”"
Recently I've seen a few people comment on the air quality readings inside large art galleries; the results were far better than on trains, in planes and airports, in movie theatres and so on, due to the need for conservation of the artwork. It's just so strange thinking about how we apparently care more about protecting art than we do about protecting our own lives.
Apparently people think Poilievre would fix the housing crisis.
I despair
"we've always had problems throughout Canada's past, though almost anyone who got a job could save up and buy a home in their mid 20s." - and this is just a flat-out lie.
