@QasimRashid I've lived in TX since I was 4 yrs old. I have deep affection for this state but now feel it is politically unsalvageable. As a woman, living here is untennable.

Sadly, my family is making our Texas exit plan (Texit?).

We're done here. I'm so sad but also so tired. We worked really hard and the Bastards keep winning. So you know what? They can have it. Peace out.

When the prosecution rests in the Manhattan case, I plan to read the transcripts so far looking for evidence that supports the elements of particular crimes.

This is my thing: Reading trial transcripts. My job was reading trial transcripts looking for appealable errors.

Shall I tell you my favorite moment in a transcript?

The defendant (yes, my client) walked in to court with baggy pants. The judge (a woman) was offended and angry. She thought the defendant was disrespecting her.

Why didn't the defense coach their client on how to appear, including how to dress? Isn't that part of their job?

(Which does not excuse the judge, imo... Like, take some time to understand culture, where folks are coming from, what they have to work with, etc. You know, recognize your own privilege. It's not that hard. But still.)

My 16-year-old only wanted one thing for Christmas: a CD player. Her wish came true, so she picked through the 400+ CDs stored in our basement and selected about a hundred to listen to.
Having spent A SOLID WEEK listening to nothing but Elton John, she has now discovered a mix CD of Culture Club, the Thompson Twins, and Howard Jones and is playing it on repeat.

I've been reading @pluralistic for a long time and he only gets MORE relevant. It's amazing, actually. I've got 2 of his books in the wings (starting immediately after I finish Black Leopard Red Wolf - which, wow, is also amazing but also challenging) and can't wait for his multiple upcoming ones. If you are not on the Doctorow train yet, trust me. It's time.

@CultureDesk I enjoyed Version Control by Dexter Palmer... Kind of a, what would time travel be like as explained by a software developer (i.e. Branching and merging timelines - Version Control 🤓).

Kindred by Octavia Butler is maybe the best time travel novel though. Knocked the wind outta me with the first chapter.
