We totally randomly met two #bicycle riders this morning near our home, apparently they're traveling around #Greece & #Albania with bicycles. They are a #German & #Italian couple. We invited them at my mom's home and we all had lunch together. Apparently they are #PhD candidates in #Austria, one in #chemistry and the other one in #biology. Very interesting young people. It was a good day today.

It has come to my attention that some you out there quite like Old Computers and #retrocomputing. While digging through my cupboards recently I came across this, which is of no use to me anymore.

The CD is included, never been out of the envelope in the back of the book.

Could anyone out there with a #BeOS or #vintage #OReilly book fetish put this to good use? I'm happy to post to mainland UK, but will need a few £/$/€ for further afield to cover postage

I just installed #Threads. Well, let me emphasize what it actually is: it's TikTok for text. It's not an actual social media where you connect, and you read posts from ppl you follow, or get equal chances of getting your posts seen. It's just a #TikTok forever scrolling, but for text. Not unlike Twitter's main feed, of course, but #Twitter is STILL more relevant since it does show you some of the people you follow. This one is on another level, algorithmically. Which makes it useless to me

With "AI-generated content" all over the place, perhaps more people will get it why I objected and continue to object to using the term "user-generated content" for anything, anywhere, ever.

It's people, not "users."
It's created, not "generated."

And often it's just as creative as any "serious art."

Of course, tech robber barons want to make it seem like it's some undetermined grey goo, "content" to be mined and filtered and "engaged with", instead.

In this day and age, how can anyone think "your password" is just one thing?
