Inkscape c'est l'exemple parfait de l'app open source alternative aux gros logiciels proprio qui fait énormément de choses excellemment bien mais qui est totalement freinée par l'UX et l'UI.

Vraiment, si on veut pas payer Adobe, les alternatives sont vraiment vraiment pas ouf et souvent avec un business model agressif.

Inkscape fait tout ce qu'on veut, il a même un éditeur .svg intégré, est super puissant mais faut lire 3 livres édités entre 2003 et 2007 pour arriver à changer l'épaisseur d'un trait.

Socialized medicine is a centrist policy in a large part of the world; it's just that the US's Overton window is so far to the right that people think Republicans are conservative, and not christofascist. I think it's all a legacy of the Cold War, where even the good ideas of the USSR had to be diametrically opposed - socialized medicine, a strong safety net, a lot of female participation in the workforce including in STEM. The Democrats are actual right-wingers to me, with Bernie Sanders a sensible leftist.

It's #pridemonth, and the only thing I feel about my sexuality is frustration, and kind of wanting it to just go away. Not out of shame of being gay per se, but just dealing with this whole gelatinous, spaghetti-code mess is kind of draining & getting in the way.

@raccoon @mcspadden sure, but I always thought those login methods benefit the gatekeepers as well - there has been a crescendoing of "delete your $XYZ account because it's bad for your privacy/mental health/democracy/etc." Having $XYZ accounts also be your gateway to other platforms means that $XYZ are now more likely to survive the chopping block, because users will be like "but if I delete $XYZ, I will lose my Tinder/Spotify profile".

@raccoon @mcspadden That, and also if I've used Reddit for 5 years, $XYZ starting to charge Reddit will just lead Reddit to make a stink about it, and harness user rage to make $XYZ backpedal. If you've been using Tinder/Spotify/Reddit/whatever using an $XYZ account, you're probably attached to those platforms enough that you'll just make a regular account. $XYZ login helps with user acquisition imo, and not with retention.

The #Bible has been removed from libraries in Utah after a parent used a new law that permits the removal of "pornographic".

The parent argued that the Bible contained topics such as incest, bestiality, genital mutilation, and infanticide, making it pornographic under the new definition set forth in Utah Code Ann. § 76-10-1227.

@lifewithtrees the way it's currently worded, a little bit condescending. But even if it were reworded to sound better, "easy enough for grandma" is very cliché. Basically none of the software I have seen advertising "easy to use" is actually easy to use.
