I’ve been journaling my daily work using Logseq for the past year or so. It has transformed how I work. It’s a log of the little wins I’ve tackled, notes on what was the route to success, and links to where the solution is, whether that is a Confluence doc, a PR on GitHub.

It is also a “memorium pool”, I no longer have to stress about remembering things. It has a powerful note linking mechanism that is automatic, I can find related notes easily and visualise how they are related to each other.

If something comes up during the day, I can tag it as /TODO and it will add that note on a calendar view so I can quickly glance if I have things I need to take care next week.

Give it a go. Remind yourself you win every day. Remind yourself that things do take time. Remind yourself that what you do today matters.

This post is not sponsored. It’s just me grateful for open-source. Want start your journaling today? Go here: https://logseq.com/

@artelse nice! I also tried different types of note taking services/apps. I settled with Logseq because of the plugins and community around it. I enjoy that it’s self-hosted, it’s folders and Markdown in itself so can store them anywhere. The mobile apps are a huge benefit as well, so I can consult them on the go 😉

@cedricdes it’s a plugin I installed, not sure the name atm - not at the laptop right now 😊

Pre-ordered Bigme B251, the standalone monitor! As someone who spends a lot of hours in front of a screen, moving to eink on my smartphone and now my desk - connected to my laptop - I’m really excited to use it!

@preslavrachev there are several folks who got the first batch of the device and made video reviews. It’s real 😉

Anyone got any better wording? This is the dialog I was going to add to gnome-firmware, asking users with updatable (but not supported) devices to upload the device list to the #LVFS so we can nag the vendor. The expander is default closed, but opens up to show the full JSON.

@hughsie I think it reads great 👍

What a teaser!!! I would have gotten Hisense A9 CC, but sadly Hisense no longer makes eink smartphones. Wondering if Bigme will bring these to Europe. They have licensed Google Play, and hopefully they come with at least Android 13? Would love to review it!

Is a postmarketOS GSI image a thing? Would be interested in reading or hearing from devs if such a thing would be possible/doable. This would open up @postmarketOS to a lot more Android devices 🤔

denzilferreira,
@denzilferreira@techhub.social avatar

@fisch @postmarketOS it's a Generic System Image. Google added this to Android 9+ devices that support Treble, allowing a developer to run a newer version of Android on their devices without needing an official update!

@didek @postmarketOS oh nice. Will take a look!!!

Spent the afternoon trying to get my 3500U to downclock to anything lower than 1.4GHz... long story short, amd_pstate is gatekept by Lenovo's unwillingness to allow us to enable ACPI on the BIOS of the Thinkpad T495, where there is a huge amount of people complaining about this and yet no BIOS update has been provided... some work is ongoing on kernel 6.8+ to bring compatibility to AMD APUs but we are not there yet... Of course, if I had Windows, this works, regardless of the BIOS. So there's that. I'll wait for the geniuses to crack this CPU power savings and underclocking. Meantime? Will carry my laptop charger, just in case I need to juice it up.

And if you want an automated CPU scheduler, auto-cpufreq is amazing: https://github.com/AdnanHodzic/auto-cpufreq . You can even use it to set charging limits to protect your battery on ThinkPads!

If you have a laptop with an AMD powered iGPU or eGPU, and you are on Linux, make sure to install LACT: https://github.com/ilya-zlobintsev/LACT

I was able to lower the clocks of my iGPU Picasso Vega 8, so I can enjoy more battery life on my laptop on the go.
