A friend of mine went to Japan a couple of months ago and brought this beauty back. It's one of the first consoles Nintendo produced and released, back in 1979. And, at least on the outside, it looks in absolutely mint condition 🥰

There's this Android app called NewPipe I would absolutely NEVER recommend to anyone fed up with Google's #YouTube app. No ads, background playback (even with the screen off), and completely free? No, most definitely not.

Please don't download that free, #opensource, lightweight app and most definitely don't replace the official app with this one.

Let me reiterate: Under no circumstance access https://newpipe.net/ and download the client. Just don't.

Credits roll for #HaikuTheRobot!

It's taken me 9 hours to beat the game, good ending and the extra DLC boss included (I haven't done the boss rush because, honestly, it's not my thing), and I'm just missing three power cells to complete the Quaterns Project, so maybe tomorrow I'll look for a walkthrough so I can complete it.

Highly recommended #metroidvania!!!

When I saw the screenshots I thought of the game as just a Blasphemous rip-off, but then I played the demo... and I was blown away. The game has a very distinct personality, and the platforming was extremely fun and satisfying to pull off.

And only now, when checking the KS campaign page, I've realized it's being made by a Spanish studio!

Last night I (re)played the demo of Eden's Guardian now that they've added a boss fight to it and I'm really looking forward to the game!

It's a nice metroidvania that looks very heavily inspired by Blasphemous, but then adds its own ideas to the core gameplay, making it quite interesting and challenging. And the boss fight was quite hard, mostly boiling down to be very fast and reactive on your controls. I'm hyped!

I just finished #IfOnAWintersNightFourTravelers and wow, that's a really good #PointAndClick adventure by @deadidlegames!
Be aware, many sensitive and disturbing topics are depicted in it, so plenty of trigger warnings for quite a short (~2h) game.
But also, the game is free! So do yourself a favour and, if you enjoy PnC adventures, do give this one a try (again, TWs, don't tell me I didn't warn you!)

Remember that comparison between Orwell's 1984 and Huxley's Brave New World, specifically the but that went "Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance."?

The way LLMs are flooding every single corner of the internet with garbage is Huxley's fear, on a scale even he could not have predicted.

I came upstairs, grabbed the Steam Deck, and I've been playing a bit of¹ Haiku the Robot, and I'm enjoying it so much. It's a really metroidvania with a very simple but effective art style, and tight and responsive controls. Although I somehow feel it's a bit of a niche game, as in you have to be familiar with MVs to get quickly in the flow of the game..

Yet another boss bites the dust in ! This time it's been the Twin Brothers.

All I can say is... I don't know how I managed to beat them. I did play poorly, I got too greedy too often, and received a lot of hits that could have been avoided. But I was careless. Still, I managed to inflict enough damage to get me to the end of the fight, and with that the last Lord of Cinder!

It's amazing how Google keeps fucking up their own products.

I just tried to search "home insurance" on my Gmail account because I wanted to check some of the documents related to the one I have.

So it has started showing me all the emails containing words like "house", "coverage", "property", "buildings"... Which are a TON of them, none of them related with the emails about my HOME. INSURANCE.

Seriously, what the fuck?

There is something incredibly beautiful in the world of gaming, and it's the community effort. As in, I downloaded Arx Fatalis the other day for my Steam Deck, and it works like shit. Transparencies don't work, textures and models look horrible and don't align properly, configuration options are limited.
But it turns out there is a fan effort called Arx Libertatis that reworks so much of the technical side of the game that, once installed, allows you to play without problems.

The emulation, modding, and homebrew scenes extend the lifespan of games and consoles so everyone can enjoy the games across generations, or get more out of the games they love.
Even while the companies leave the games to rot in a sewer, the community is there to keep it alive. It's just amazing.

And this is something that basically no other entertainment medium has. The closest I can think of is the fanfic scene.

I've stumbled upon a video elaborating over the idea of "Videogames are meant to be played, not looked at" discussing that graphics don't need to be awesome but the gameplay needs to be fun (case in point: Minecraft is the best selling game of all time), and I've realized that that's one of the main reasons I do so much #retrogaming. As long as the gameplay is engaging, graphics are just a means to an end. And old fun games don't require a latest-gen £1000 NVidia GPU to run decently.

The bosses in #Souldiers are tough as nails. I recently installed a plugin to record the screen on the Steam Deck, and I wanted to try it out, so I have been recording some of the victories against those bosses.

#DayOfTheTentacle finished!! It's such a wonderful and fun adventure, I love it!

I did use a walkthrough for some parts where I got stuck because well, I'm old and I don't have the time to try every single combination of object interactions or make the required logical leaps required to beat it myself... But still, I've enjoyed it so much. It is awesome how much to do they managed to cram in just three versions of the same house. A true lesson in adventure design mastery 🥰🥰🥰
