Twitter used to be our main marketing tool--the primary way we sold books online and got the word out.

These days, not so much.

Please help support us and our authors with a signal boost! We are an independent publisher based in Chennai with books on folklore from different parts of India, graphic novels, ghost encyclopedias, weird horror, pulp fiction in translation, and some wonderfully strange little zines.

Good morning! Do we have any followers who read Marathi? We're looking to learn more about MARATHI WOMEN WRITERS, in particular those who work in adventure, romance, horror, crime, and other genres that rarely get translated or win awards.

We've got a couple of translators exploring the possibility of doing a Marathi pulp fiction anthology. They have some cool stories lined up. But ALL the authors are men! Seems very hard to find women writing genre fic in this language. Any tips welcome!

Trying to follow this story about Canada's Trudeau accusing the Indian government of assassinating a Sikh leader on its soil, and I'm really feeling the demise of old Twitter. Over on "X" half of the quote-tweets are mysteriously unavailable, it really looks like Musk is helping or allowing the government to suppress discussion. On Bluesky I can only find white people talking about it--the Indian voices are super few and far between. And here on Mastodon, search turns up nothing?

This is an old twitter thread from 3 years ago which we had fun with. We are reposting it here because old twitter threads are endangered by link rot, and because we seem to have a newish audience here.

It's a comparative mythology thread that focuses on a legendary race of ancient Indian people who....

(drum roll)

had no buttholes.

Many of our all-time favourite Gujarati pulp covers were illustrated for supernatural thriller novels by H. N. "Atom" Golibar.

These are by N. Manwar. There are interior illustrations, too, by the late G Sandhwani.

We're happy to be in touch with Sandhwani's son Anwar, who's helping us source his father's original illustrations for Kaal Kundali.

Back our Kickstarter to help our anthology of Gujarati Pulp Fiction into the world!

In 1976, a colleague told him that a weekly magazine could never survive without selling space for advertisements. Golibar took it as a challenge--he stopped running ads and kept Chakram Chandan completely ad-free for another 45 years. (Remember: not monthly, but weekly!!!)
