You never forget your first #JamesBond movie. When I was just 7 years old my father took me to see The Spy Who Loved Me and I was spellbound. From the thrilling opening ski chase to the iconic Lotus Esprit submarine car and Richard Kiel as the iconic villain Jaws, I never forgot it.

I’ve watched it many times over the years and tonight I’m watching it again. The film’s opening number ‘Nobody Does It Better’ by Carly Simon is my favorite Bond song of all time.

This is gonna be fun!

I remember when even anti-abortion politicians were careful to say they would never criminalize the pregnant women. Now Nebraska is imprisoning a mother who helped her teenage daughter with an abortion pill.

@craiggrannell @chrisphin @lapcatsoftware same here. This iOS style was and still is an abomination. I hate it every time I need to use it.

It’s worse than just UI. Here’s a test: try finding where is the option to control the system sleep being on/off. Whoever put it there has never actually used that feature.

But things happened in years 2021+ and material and approach now need a lot of updates to be relevant and usable in 2023. (Async/Await, Actors, SwiftUI angle etc). I wanted to update several times but something else always had priority. 😮‍💨

Visualizations in The Foundation are really good. Especially the space travel. SW hyperspace graphics dominate everyone’s mind when thinking about space travel thus it’s nice to see something cool and different.

Lightning port is the best all-around port that was ever designed. No guesses when plugging in, no extruded parts that need to line up and thus have a chance to be broken. Pretty much perfection. Too bad Apple never bothered to increase its speed.

    Today on “app coders who don’t understand safe area insets”: #Xfinity’s app places the back button and title bar against the top of the window in this view. The title of the view is completely hidden by the Dynamic Island on my phone, and the back button is untappable since it’s behind the status bar.

    If you have an #iPhone app, you gotta to test your UI on notched phones.

    Yes, I filed a bug report on Xfinity.

    Conversations around Radar / Feedback are weird because both sides are acting in good faith and not getting what they want.

    My best effort to explain the public side: we are being asked for a superhuman level of engagement with a quiet and opaque system. It is psychologically challenging to put in the effort that good feedback takes, about a subject one cares about, and receive no response for years-to-decades. Those are the ingredients for burnout. So, justified or not, it’s simply too much.

    Is there really no way to specify default values for keys? Like, if a JSON key is missing, provide a default value for a struct’s property, without having to write a custom init(from:) initializer?

    That makes it hard to dot-version rev a schema by adding keys, but continue to maintain backward-compatibility with older saved data…
