I went to CVS yesterday to pick up a prescription. For years when I’ve done so, there’s a step where you need to sign on the terminal and agree that you’re receiving the listed medications. This time, I noticed a super dark pattern.

In the place where historically they’ve collected this signature, they still ask for your signature—but to agree that CVS can use your medical data for marketing.

There’s no way this is informed consent. One of the darkest patterns I’ve seen.

So far, I sketched everything with Result<Value,Error> so I get typed errors.

But both stack unwinding and the lack of ceremony of throws is appealing, too. API consumers probably don't need fine grained detail which of the 20 error cases occurred.

My doctor prescribed some meds for my psoriasis. $9280 for the first month, $2300 each month after that. Possibly indefinitely. This is AFTER health insurance covers half of the cost.

This is some messed up Skrelli style pricing, and I have to cancel it. Even if I wasn’t retired, I can’t afford $34,000/year for one medication.

I guess I’ll be itchy instead. FML

In my process to consolidate data from old hard drives, cloud services, and such, I'm finding a lot of media I downloaded in middle school? high school? We're talking very poor quality videos. Some of this stuff I don't even remember downloading. Every single episode of Sailor Moon? Cartoon Planet (i.e. Space Ghost) twice? Coven, the movie that they were making in the documentary American Movie?

As I dig through this I'll probably find those 11 bitcoins that I mined during my internship in 2011

I don’t think I’ve noticed this before (maybe it’s new?) but my iPhone adjusts its time while flying to account for date zone shifts even though it’s in airplane mode. Perhaps this is based on GPS?
