In late 2021 during archaeological excavations near the Dutch city of Nijmegen, a blue glass bowl was found, completely intact. This item is believed to be around 2,000 years old.

What's most striking to me is how normal it looks. A bowl like this wouldn't look out of place in a modern home decoration shop.

There's a screenshot going around showing an upcoming AI assistant in Windows Notepad.

In the screenshot, there's some text about the Roman invasion of Britain in the year 43 AD. The AI rewrites the sentences and dreams up the involvement of Julius Caesar.

Here's the thing though. Julius Caesar died in 44 BC, or some 100 years before.

Holy crap, I found a temperature conversion app I made as a teenager back in the year 2000.

By "found" I mean someone archived it and put it in a bundle of "small apps" on their website as a download.

It still runs in Windows 11 haha

Turns out Davinci Resolve (the video editor I've been using for 3 weeks now) has a bug that prevents it from saving your work.

I ran into this yesterday. I can't believe software this mature and this widespread is having such basic issues.

I hope what happened to Twitter and more recently Reddit will make people reconsider using these big corporate platforms to host their communities.

So many forums and blogs have disappeared over the years because people flocked to a handful of very big sites. It seems nice and convenient for a while, but it's a huge risk as you have very little control over how these companies manage their product. When they mess up, there's very little you can do.
