Something i'm pondering today: are there any popular or mainstream-ish TV shows or hollywood movies depicting a t4t couple? Are there any that even show a queer romance between a trans person and a cis person? Are there any that show trans women as capable of being dated and loved in long-term relationships as themselves?

I'll admit, I am unaware of a single t4t couple in mainstream entertainment media (maybe there's like a single episode sidestory somewhere?). That might have more to do with me not watching that many new shows and movies though, not sure.

In terms of trans characters being dated and loved as themselves, i think all of those are in queer-centered media like the L Word, Pose, and Transparent, i'm guessing? (Also haven't watched those shows because i'm a bad queer 😅) but a mainstream show? Definitely can't name one, especially where a transfem or trans woman is seen as having a long-term relationship as herself.

Sometimes I think it might be better not to be screened for cancer or whatever.

Cus if I get a colonoscopy and it says you have cancer...then I'd have to spend the next 10 years fighting that shit.

But If I didn't then I'd have like 5 years of blissful ignorance.

I'm sure that me sitting here waiting for the appointment psyching myself up to guzzle more of the horrible clean you out liquid and having not had food since 8pm Monday has zero impact on my thoughts

I'm exhausted after months of working two jobs and three weeks of traveling off and on. My brain has decided it's time to give up and stop working.

Was thinking this morning about what @RickiTarr posted regarding conservative aspects being cult like.

Having come out of a very cult like evangelical church nearly a decade prior to any political standing changes in my life it is ... odd in a discordant resonance way how similar those situations are.

When I came out as trans the wall that popped up between me and any conservative acquaintances was nearly as sharp as the wall between me and those who stayed in the church I left.

I no longer had the same steady thrumbeat of propaganda. I no longer accepted the "wise leadership". And those things were everything for both situations.

I don't remember anyone telling me to judge things based on any consistent facts only on how things matched the sermons or political stances of public leaders.

This post isn't a revelation or clear point just me publicly sharing my thoughts as I chew on this framework and think about the implications.

I remember regularly being told to make sure I don't get swept up by the arguments of "bad" but there was a big disconnect between the Bible as read and the stances.

Something I never questioned because everyone I knew who was "good" didn't question it.

And questions were viewed as bad. As doubting. And doubt was a very bad. Never doubt leadership. Leadership only has your best interests at heart. We are all a family. A family doesn't share problems outside of family. Fights are private. Smiles are public.

A great deal of my life I would hear "the problem with families is dad's not being present". Like single mom or lesbian mom problems were simply lack of a man.

I wonder if that belief was a "how will your kids learn patriarchy if they don't have a parent steeped in supporting it?"
