🧵1/3 Tested for you: If I #block an #instance or people privately, I can no longer interact with them after a short wait, even though I can still see the profile. But I have tried this with #Threads and it does NOT work!

The big shop platform for crafters and artists with the E cries that it has to pay the oh-so-evil Digital Services Tax in France and raises fees again (they were already high). I am so fed up with their conditions, with this corporate profit-making, that I have closed my shop for good.
You can continue to buy my art, soon somewhere else. And until then, just ask me directly if you like something!

I'm not naming the company for legal reasons, better not do that either!

Today, I finished a new one of my #BiodiversityShrines feat. Jordanita subsolana, a #butterfly now extinct in our region. My #shrines are a mixture of #paperArt #nature, elements of #culturalHeritage materials and "civilisation" #waste, like the 8 cm wide cheese box and the precious #plastic-cement-waste. My inspirations come from #klosterarbeiten, #reliquaries #naturalHistory #museums and my brain.

🧵 1/9 #Assomption (#Assumption of Mary) today, is a holiday here in France. In German we have the name "Kräuterweihe" that reminds much better to the #pagan history behind that date. Indeed, it was one of the most important days of agricultural calendars. Here, I talk about the #CulturalHeritage especially in #Alsace, its connection to #nature and even #climateChange - not about the Catholic idea. For #ClimateDiary it's a day which should change the date: weather #traditions don't work anymore.

#ClimateDiary Our neighbour country #Spain expects an extreme #heatwave with 40°C. This is more than 6-10 degrees than normal because we have APRIL! In some regions this is 15-20 degrees over normal. Crazy!
We are sitting in the middle of the #climateCrisis, which is already on our doorstep. Have we ever considered that 1.5 degrees is an average temperature? How will those who get the extremes live? Here it's rather cold but we have winter #drought in France. Never had one in winter ...

Manche Menschen verarmen so schlimm in ihren sozialen Skills. Schaffe unterm Wanderzeichenschild. Desorientierte Gruppe wischt manisch auf Handys. Ich Landei: Bonjour! Erschrecken. Nur zwei grüssen zurück. Ich könnte ihnen den Weg erklären. 30 min später kommen sie vom falschen Weg zurück. Panisches Handywischen. Ich schaffe immer noch unterm Wegweiser, aber da sind sie schon wieder falsch abgebogen: Das Navi sagt hier lang! Das Schild und ich kichern. Wir wollen uns nicht aufdrängen.

I had been in a department for printed books (which are very expensive in France) for ages. It's a pain to search shelves where you can't type in a search term or title! 😂
So many non-fiction books cutely laid out, with umpteen different colourful fonts (where is the design god of revenge?), but hardly any content. Many magazines offer more. Or two tutorials on youtube. There was a terrible Harry Potter hype and two shelves of cooking books. I haven't bought a book. 😞

Example: I come home from mowing. My TL is full of calls to stop mowing. This activism is good and important. BUT...

Those who have other needs are often bullied. People in SocMed often don't listen to different thoughts anymore.

I just mowed a far too high meadow in order to promote biodiversity. How so?!?
We had extreme weather. Two early hot summer phases have allowed plants to flourish that hold down anything less robust.

My beloved fairy necklace with earrings went to a client in Hollywood. Paper yarn in fairy green with Japanese glass art. Elaborately handmade. For people who dare.

I still make them today in several colours, but each one is unique. Why did I never made one for me?! 🤔

The necklace from the front is on a black display. The bundled strands of paper yarn gently encircle the neck, with flowers and leaves reaching into the décolleté.
Details of the flower, the leaves and some beads. It is very time-consuming to produce the open forms. You have to carefully twist the yarns backwards with your fingernails and open them before sculpting.

#Fediverse: It's not important how many #followers you have! Don't look at #numbers!

BUT! For new followers, #Mastodon shows now the #follower numbers instead of the profile description prominently (browser version). Such a deterioration, @Gargron !

I always read your descriptions and content before #following. I follow if you have 10 or 100,000 followers IF I'm interested.
But now we are downgraded to a name with follower numbers. Before the change, I saw personalities. (App seems still ok)

Challenge: How do I eat a whole pineapple in two days? 🍍 😋
Pure luxury from the Zero Waste Box: a pineapple, lots of grapes and tens of mandarins. It's hard to believe that #supermarkets used to throw this away (which is now banned in France). A #ZeroWaste box in our #supermarket costs 3 EUR for 2 kg of "ugly" or overripe vegetables/fruits. The very ripe pineapple smells delicious!

Der damals völlig irrwitzige Einstieg ... ICH kann nix dafür dass heute #LLM und #genAI Bücher halluzinieren! ICH war's nicht!!! 🤡 Ich wurde damals in der Branche übrigens ausgelacht, weil ich an #ebooks und #SelfPublishing glaubte und Fragen nach Ressourcen/Energie stellte.

I appreciate the author's posts very much. And she writes #HopePunk, #CliFi, and #SolarPunk. I had not really an idea what is hidden behind these labels. I've been tiptoeing around the genres for months, worried that it might be too pedagogical, not literary enough.

The person follows - attention - nobody.

The #Fediverse doesn't work like this. Before you collect followers and boosts, follow others, communicate, and write content. It's like real life: you drink coffee with other people before they gossip about your life story around the village.😉

For some time now, I've noticed that #Deepl is increasingly hallucinating. I sometimes use it for complex, complicated sentences or to check my wording. More often now, I get commonplace verbs, if I emphasise something in a word, formulate it sarcastically, or very critically. Another thing that utterly gets on my nerves is #genderBias. The thing is trained patriarchal straight.
Deepl is still the best #translator I know but these kinds of mistakes are increasing.

Preparing for voluntary service at our #culturalHeritage centre & #museum. On Sundays, we have a table with women who do #handicrafts and chat. This is targeted #animation so that people become curious, ask questions and watch. And learn more about our centre. Most of the women #embroider, I show #VisibleMending. Other colleagues give guided tours, baked cake, serve in the cafeteria and explain hot #chocolate today. There is a lecture and a special exhibition about chocolate.
