It still gets me the Bible Jesus is a homeless socialist with brown skin, hangs out with 12 dudes and a Prostitute, tells rich people to pay their taxes and give their wealth to the poor, tells the religious leaders that they need to love everyone equally, gets a whip and goes hog on people using religion to sell stuff, and then straight up gets murdered for these beliefs. Yet somehow churches act like he's some kind of Conservative Haircut in khakis and a button up, who would support cutting welfare programs, and would preach Prosperity Gospel.

Masked and ready for travel. ZERO other passengers masked in the airport. Some TSA masked, but several were coughing and sniffling.

I will take the mask off for sips of water, but rather than head to our crowded gate, we find an empty gate and sit 40 feet from the walkway and other people.

This is my 20th flight of the pandemic. To my knowledge, I've not gotten sick in an airport or plane. I got my one #COVID19 infection on a trip, but I think that was from the event at which I presented.

Methylcobalamin,
@Methylcobalamin@mastodon.social avatar

@augieray

Your success with avoiding getting Covid 19 while air traveling is inspiring.

I haven't been on a plane since the pandemic started. It is good to know that a mask is good enough. Now all I have to wait for is this issue with defective Boeing planes to be resolved! :-)

Methylcobalamin,
@Methylcobalamin@mastodon.social avatar

@augieray

It says a lot for the effectiveness of masks + vaccines that using one has kept you from getting sick despite being packed so close in to other people on airplanes.

I might just strap on my N95 and go see Dune 2.

Text communication being bereft of other communication elements doesn't help either.

One more reason to use social media less and try to have in-person interactions more.

No disrespect.

Remember Digg? It once made a big mistake. Everyone left Digg and joined Reddit. Someday, history will repeat itself. That day, Reddit stock will crash post-IPO. Their entire businesses are based on users, and they have been hostile to users for some time.

I had an account that was over 15 years old there. I moderated a number of forums. I posted there regularly.

Something stupid happened with one of the AEO scripts. My account got banned from the site for basically being a good user.

I tried to appeal several times, in several places. I got cryptic blow offs if I got responses at all.

OMG. This is the real deal. Bython: Python with braces. Because Python is awesome, but whitespace is awful. Bython is a Python preprosessor which translates curly brackets into indentation. Would you use this? https://pypi.org/project/Bython/ #pyhton #programming #opensource

Methylcobalamin,

I wouldn't bother with it.

The fucking Times. It follows up yesterday's awful poll with another. That they even asked this question is evidence of the bias--the agenda--in their poll. Who made age an "issue"? The credulous Times falling into the right-wing's projection. This is not journalism. Shameful.

I've read a lot online about how "Y2K was overblown". As an engineer who worked like crazy in 1999 to correct our systems this drives me crazy.

Today I read about games going offline, watches getting frozen and airline tickets showing the wrong date.

Because of a leap year. Which happens every FOUR years (give or take).

Yeah Y2K was a one time thing. (Well at least until year 10000)

Isn't 2038 going to be fun.

Methylcobalamin,
@Methylcobalamin@mastodon.social avatar

@damieng

I think Y2K left "conservative" institutions like banks, etc vulnerable. They don't have the business culture of advertising vulnerabilities and fixes. That was my guess as to why it seemed like nothing happened. Those institutions quietly fixed their Y2K problems before Y2k hit.
