The Hugo Boss Story OR Who designed the SS uniform?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afQ3LtDruNk

Womenā€™s fashion is primarily my interest but used to sell to men & prefer male clients actually

However although I was aware of Hugo Bossā€™ ties to the Nazis, didnā€™t realize how exactly

The fact that cheap undies & workwear is the actual soul of the companyā€¦ Tbh never cared for them & now I see why

I DO howeveršŸ–¤šŸ–¤šŸ–¤ the military look & the story makes much more sense now

Lorrrraaaaine,

@Pineywoozle
SHEIN is even bigger an issue & worse for the environment in speed & has displaced Zara & Forever21

Truthfully only been in Zara once & own nothing so canā€™t speak to their quality.. I assume it isnā€™t great. If people kept the stuff forever Iā€™d be less judgemental about it even though poly-fabrics are a giant problem throughout the entire life-cycle. It can shed while youā€™re wearing & laundering

Iā€™ve been packing & cataloging 29~years of collected clothes so been thinking about clothing even more than usual. I got a new toy/tool & she needs space, realized Iā€™m prob not going to be working a forward facing job anytime soon so been writing down inventory & packing it away so itā€™ll stop collecting dust. I thought it could be done in 2 daysā€¦ itā€™s been 6 & Iā€™m still not donešŸ™„

Clothing is an issue forā€¦ I think everyone? Started working in designer clothing 30~years ago & somewhere along the way pivoted to patternmaking & making clothes. All because I hate shoppingšŸ˜‚ Everything about it from spending the money to searching

Tbh if I didnā€™t work in the industry & go to a handful of warehouse & sample sales, shop EBay in the early years for designer research pieces, Iā€™d have literally no clothes & the ONLY reason I have 13 under bed storage bags stacked in my closet stuffed w/clothes is b/c I never get rid of anything willingly (my clothes must be lost or borrowed then stolen or very rarely gifted for me to let it go) Reason being I could theoretically painstakingly pull a pattern from them to reproduce them

Good clothing like our health industry is going back to the Middle Ages. The quality is degrading fast in all market levels. Itā€™s all profit driven to degrees that are unsustainable. Iā€™ve watched House after House fall over the past decade, small 100% family owned businesses, sold to mutual fund Bros/investment firms who understand nothing about the luxury products other than use & arbitrarily cut key expenses such as knowledgeable workers & cheapen materials. Many of the great lines have gone out of business too. Specialty retailers or boutiques also, poof gone. What we get left to choose from are large crappy made conglomerates. Itā€™s not a good situation b/c the luxury goods used to get trickled down into 2nd hand markets or new to resellers like Century21. I must have felt this coming though for awhile & itā€™s most definitely solidly now here. If I didnā€™t spend the last 15 years teaching myself to sew like an Italian grandmother luxury factory worker, Iā€™d be freaking out. Learning to sew & the pattern purchase market ALSO has issues galore. They donā€™t make clothing easily obtainable by regular people anymore. Btw, once upon a time, everyone (well women at least) knew how to sew but that died in the 70ā€™s & the womenā€™s movement had a lot to do with it. I had a manager whose mother wouldnā€™t allow her to learn how to type, sew & possibly cook? Altho not sure about the last one.. but it was b/c she didnā€™t want her to become a secretary

Iā€™ll use Chelsea soccer team as an example of the American way. The team was allowed to be purchased by 2 investment companies that clearly donā€™t understand how to run a premiere soccer team. In 18 months they went from solid top 3 or 4 to 11 or 12 out of 28 teams in the league. Itā€™s not exactly the same situation b/c theyā€™ve been dumping billions of dollars into it, stupidly I might add, but these Americans donā€™t understand the business

Most people donā€™t understand fashion either; what it takes to make a product & what makes a product great

When I first saw elastane in 1994 it was pretty miraculous the fit & comfort achievable in a fitted wool jacket but after a few years, it becomes apparent when the elastane breaks leaving an unsightly lump & broken clear-white threads, just how awful it is. One of my favorite suits/dress is Italian designer & just saw this issue the other day while cataloging. Even designer clothes do not last. Looking forward to re-patterning that one so it doesnā€™t need elastane & can be 100% woven yet still comfy. Challenging doesnā€™t even describe the work it will takešŸ–¤

Fashion purchases is a place where people can make a difference, but at the same time can understand how difficult it is

I could go onā€¦ but Iā€™ll spare youšŸ˜‰

Lorrrraaaaine,

@Pineywoozle @flowerpot
Indeed. Itā€™s a shame sewing stores are primarily marketed towards quilters altho will say quilting tools & rulers are quite awesome

Fashion schools donā€™t really teach making. Parsons gives students helpers to sew collections for them even!

I actually learned more about fashion design in textiles as we wove our fabrics fromšŸ§µvs the fashion dept

Donā€™t even get me started on patternmaking.. My teachers for all aspects are my literal clothesšŸ˜‚šŸ–¤

A random comment posted in convo of the original tweet 6th infection since 2020 Tested Positive - Me Hi all. Hope all are well. I am very sick with Covid again although this sixth time has been very different and much worse. Aside from the headaches that accompany the illness what stands out to me is the extreme tiredness, lethargy I'm experiencing. This afternoon I was in my kitchen making something to eat and passed out. I didn't have the strength to stand, luckily my wife helped. I lost n father in 2020 to Covid so I immediately checked my Bloc oxygen, it was holding at 96, back up to 97 now. Is it me, does Covid symptoms worsen with every subsequent re- infection? This is concerning. I am 46, extremely fit all my life. Just catching a cold is not common for me. Wonderir how others have felt as they've been reinfected numerou: times. Thanks!

Binding of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2's spike protein to host angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 triggers viral entry, but other proteins may participate, including the neuropilin-1 receptor (NRP-1). Because both spike protein and vascular endothelial growth factor- (VEGF-A)-a pronociceptive and angiogenic factor, bind NRP-1, we tested whether spike could block VEGF-A/NRP-1 signaling, VEGF-A-triggered sensory neuron firing was blocked by spike protein and NRP-1 inhibitor EG00229. Pronociceptive behaviors of VEGF-A were similarly blocked through suppression of spontaneous spinal synaptic activity and reduction of electrogenic currents in sensory neurons. Remarkably, preventing VEGF-A/ NRP-1 signaling was antiallodynic in a neuropathic pain model. A "silencing of pain through subversion of VEGF-A/ NRP-1 signaling may underlie increased disease transmission in asymptomatic individuals.

kristen_nagle The fear porn is out in full throttle with this one! Measles is a benign childhood illness that presents with a generalized full body rash of tiny red dots and a fever. Some children may also have cold- like symptoms. Measles in children is a rite of passage. It helps create resiliency, boosts the immune system, upgrades DNA, detoxes what is not needed in the body, and decreases chances of allergies, cancers, and asthma later on in life. Measles was never feared until there was money to be made from a liability free . Only pharma wins on this one. So what can you do? How can you remove any fear you might have? 1. Know that once the spots are visible, the healing has already begun, and your child is in the healing phase. 2. Fevers utilize a lot of vitamin A in the body. Replenishing vitamin A with fermented Cod liver oil is great. This also helps minimize symptoms. 3. You can also support fevers with catnip (tincture or tea) and lavender and peppermint oil. Remember, we only want to support the symptoms, not suppress them. The body knows exactly what it's doing. 4. Oat baths. Place oats and lavender into a sock or large tea like bag and place in the bath along with epsom salts. This will help soothe skin, calm, and help with detox. 5. Time. The hardest thing is waiting. Use this time to cuddle, bond, and nurture your child. This opportunity is essential as it creates trust in the child for their body and being able to rely on you as the parent. They raalize thou

> The Japanese government said Tuesday it will cease subsidizing medical expenses for people infected with COVID-19, including no longer fixing the cost of medicines, at the end of March due to a fall in the number of cases.

> With Japan's health care arrangements returning to pre-pandemic status from April, patients will have to pay 10 to 30 percent of the cost of coronavirus treatment drugs. Income levels and age determine how much each person pays.
