Pundits absolutely do not grasp the fact that Trump's trial's value does NOT rest on whether or not it "moves voters" if he's convicted.

The VALUE is accountability.

The VALUE is a working system of law that functions--regardless of whom the person happens to be or what position that person holds.

Treating it like "no biggie" because voters APPEAR unmoved is great messaging -- for Trump.

@chemoelectric @VirginiaMurr which would in all probability be a fine and maybe a curfew. Of all the stuff that may go to trial, this is not a real serious offence relative to the others. If he is convicted it will prove no-one is excluded from being legally held accountable which is good. But few will give a toss and his side will leverage it to spin a narrative that he is being unjustly targeted

@Geri @JackTheCat it is an investment management vehicle - the Gov will have shared equity in a bunch of companies that invest in the private sector to derisk capital. The Gov will give Green start-ups etc money as a subsidy and in return will get 25% of any profits in dividends - they won’t have any say in the companies. Basically a slush fund to pay private companies from tax money. It has a whiff of PFI

@thisismyglasgow Pre-industrialisation the Govan area was a highly sought after residential location for the upper echelons of the merchant class. There were quite a few villa's dotted about the area. I think this was one. Whitfield was often used as the name of the area. There were others on Copland Road as I had a relative who owned one. I vaguely remember it as a young child (I’m old) and it was huge inside.

Two-tone tenements on Clifford Street in the Ibrox area of Glasgow. Local legend has it this effect is due to the builders running out of one colour of sandstone and completing the building with another. However, it seems much more likely that this was a conscious design choice to use harder red sandstone on the ground flooor, where most wear was likely to occur, and the softer blonde sandstone above.
