So much of the population in the US is so gullible. They have zero ability to think through what is presented in media. They just swallow it, lies and all. I'm in such a cynical mood. I find myself wanting to be online less and less.
Two-tone tenements on Clifford Street in the Ibrox area of Glasgow. Local legend has it this effect is due to the builders running out of one colour of sandstone and completing the building with another. However, it seems much more likely that this was a conscious design choice to use harder red sandstone on the ground flooor, where most wear was likely to occur, and the softer blonde sandstone above.
Dare I say it but the Guardian appears to be going very easy on Gething and Labour ‘shenanigans’… they wouldn’t pull their punches for any other party.
@Geri@JackTheCat it is an investment management vehicle - the Gov will have shared equity in a bunch of companies that invest in the private sector to derisk capital. The Gov will give Green start-ups etc money as a subsidy and in return will get 25% of any profits in dividends - they won’t have any say in the companies. Basically a slush fund to pay private companies from tax money. It has a whiff of PFI
@Geri@JackTheCat it’s not an energy company. They will not be generating or selling energy. He’s been lying again. He’s now admitted it’s not an energy company
@Wen@yunod pathetic, isn’t it. I hope Diane stands as an Ind as she’d win the seat. It’s not that I am a huge fan, but would love to see her give the finger to Starmer.
@blepharon@therightarticle I agree. And the next major Starmer u-turn is his ‘GB Energy Company’. Many of us in Scotland called out his shit about this long ago, but they’ve had to admit today they are only planning to create an investment company and, wait for it, one that could see up to 10000 jobs go in Scotland. The idiot then jumped on his private plane back to London with his tail between his legs looking like an even bigger fool and liar
This building at 35 Whitefield Road in the Ibrox area of Glasgow has always struck me as being potentially interesting, but rather frustratingly, I've never been able to work out its original purpose.
@thisismyglasgow Pre-industrialisation the Govan area was a highly sought after residential location for the upper echelons of the merchant class. There were quite a few villa's dotted about the area. I think this was one. Whitfield was often used as the name of the area. There were others on Copland Road as I had a relative who owned one. I vaguely remember it as a young child (I’m old) and it was huge inside.
“Brand Scotland is a key part of Labour’s growth plan for Scotland.” #GE24
Conor Savage, the Labour Candidate for the Orkney and Shetland Constituency in the General Election on 4th of July, said that Labour will promote ‘Brand Scotland’ through UK embassies. He said: “A UK Labour government will promote more high-quality Scottish products abroad using the successful blueprint created by whisky and smoked salmon. Labour will use the UK’s global network of embassies to…
The lone surviving Alexander 'Greek' Thomson Lamp Standard on Queen's Drive is looking rather sorry for itself at the moment having been vandalised with silver spray paint. Anyone know who to contact to get it cleaned off without damaging the details underneath?
"Northern Ireland Minister Steve Baker defiantly told The Mirror that he had continued with his holiday plans despite Rishi Sunak calling a snap election. He said that before he booked his break, he and fellow MPs were assured by the PM that it would be ok to head off to the beach this week."
@Wen@patrickhadfield I think he’s just given up. He is trying (badly) to promote the Tories, but the smile is fake and his eyes are dead. He’s not enjoying the job and his political inexperience shows. He’s either been told the letters are pouring in to get rid of him and he’s thought I’ll shaft the lot of them or maybe something simple like his wife has said enough, get out of there by summer and they can go live their lives in the manner they want.
@chemoelectric@VirginiaMurr which would in all probability be a fine and maybe a curfew. Of all the stuff that may go to trial, this is not a real serious offence relative to the others. If he is convicted it will prove no-one is excluded from being legally held accountable which is good. But few will give a toss and his side will leverage it to spin a narrative that he is being unjustly targeted
