One of the fun things about researching is that you come across a farmer who offended the spirits of the mountains somehow and then his entire lineage was cursed...

...and then you google the farm and discover it rents out holiday apartments.

Why does the punishment involve taking away all of the treasure, which would include portions belonging to the two blind maidens when they were surely victims of the half- b&w maiden's deceit as well? Why are the two blind maidens also bound to the same site for eternity? Where's the justice?

I did my first solo barbed wire rescue today. He likely got caught on barbed wire flying out of a nearby tree. In order to take flight bats need to drop down and if there's a fence nearby it's a major obstacle.

It's extra frustrating because barbed wire on security fences does not increase security, anyone who wants to get in will just cut it.

Please remember, if you see a bat in trouble, or out during the day, Don't Touch, but call a local bat or wildlife rescue group for help. We have vaccinations and training to help protect ourselves and the animals.

Parents left in the car with a parang (machete), which is something worrying if you're in the wrong neighbourhood. But being my parents in this suburban-bordering-on-rural area, it wasn't long before they came home with a 10-foot-long green bamboo trunk, one end braced against the inside of the boot hatch and the other sticking out of the front passenger window like a harpoon. I wish I got a photo but I was laughing too hard.

@georgettetan Is that Bamboo for one of the Lunar New Year celebrations? My Dad used to keep a machete in the car for his all-purpose branch-trimming and clean-up jobs around the garden. It made for some interesting traffic police stops since we live in the city. But he usually got around it by saying - "Oh, I'm headed out to my durian orchard". Gentle reader, my Dad has exactly 1 Durian Tree.
