I saw someone who works in search and results say “our number one survival skill as humans is asking for help. It’s the reason babies cry and can’t get very far. If you’re ever lost or in danger, get to safety then stay where you are and call for help”

And this is the same whether you’re in a life and death situation or just struggling with anything.

Ia thing I enjoyed reading recently was an online argument which started with the “Isn’t it creepy we evolved the Uncanny Valley effect?” And someone said it was likely a survival response to Neanderthals, and someone else saying that it wasn’t and that theory excuses racism, and that it was actually probably a response to people behaving oddly due to being “changelings” or having rabies.

They got very upset when someone went “oh, so it’s not racism it’s ableism, well that’s alright then 🙄”

I can’t imagine the sense of superiority you get from going out of your way to tell someone that you don’t do a thing that they’ve mentioned in passing, and that in fact you think that thing is terrible, is worth the deep feeling of loneliness you’ll feel when you eventually realise that’s why no one ever gets in touch to see if you want to hang out
