Looks like the #XFCE#screenshot tool will soon have that awkward "Upload to #Imgur" option dropped. Good riddance! I never understood features like this one, especially when it goes to a #proprietary service.
I always miss my #Linux / #Debian workflow when I boot into #Windows to do some work.
I have a couple of keyboard shortcuts on #Xfce which makes working a lot easier. Also, rofi... enough said. #Windows sometimes feels really clunky to handle.
Well, #sysadmin life I suppose 😂
@array
Very true!
Windows management on Windows is not bad... but not fast either... feels really clunky tbh!
I have my #Xfce workflow here 😎
A tiling wm makes a lot of sense when the given workflow is mostly terminal based.
#Xfce never let me down. The stability and usability really is from another world.
You can throw any workflow at it and it will not stutter, hang or crash.
Just the right thing for any Sysadmin doing work. 🙂
Combine this with #Debian or any #BSD and you got a match made in heaven 😎
The stock xfce4-panel Clock *calendar for some weird reason has the week number hard coded. So you can't hide it. I can't think of a single time in my life I thought to myself, "gee, I wonder what week out of 52 we are currently in". This is such a strange choice.
Just bought a #DELL 3190 laptop, new for $150 (11.6" screen, 64GB eMMC). It's fully supported on #Linux, and even if it has a Celeron N4120 CPU and only 4 GB of RAM, it'll work fine with #Mint, or #XFCE (and #Gnome/ #KDE if you don't mind some minor lag). Not opening too many browser tabs will ensure that the swap file won't get used too often.
If you're on a tight budget this is a good option, as it also has great battery life too at 10 hours with Linux.
Here's where I'm at with Chicago95, still looking for a lightdm theme though.
I think I've got everything just perfect, need to switch the clock font next time I turn the computer on though. Also, the slashes in terminal are the wrong way round.
It tricked the AI image alt text. I've also included a screenshot of a Plus! themed windows 98 qemu install that I've used to help style things.
I've been doing #sysprof profiling & stopwatch measurements of #GNOMEFiles loading local folders with thousands of items without a warm disk cache. #XFCE's #Thunar file manager still feels 4 to 30x faster than #Nautilus in this scenario.
It seems the functions used for querying thumbnails attributes are currently really expensive. Hopefully they can be optimized.
The latest #Debian#Gnu/Hurd OS, as I ran it tonight. Very unstable and buggy, but fun to see. It is able to run #XFce at 200 MBs of RAM (Debian #Linux does so at ~800 MB).
