"Donald is, I believe, for political reasons, trying to provoke one of the judges in his criminal or this civil case to send him to jail, so that he can rally his supporters and say, 'See, the system is rigged. They’re out to get me. I didn’t do anything wrong, but they’re going to shut me up.'”
Free for all to read at my Patreon - @NarrelleMHarris and I review shows at the Melbourne Fringe Festival!
First up, reviews of Two Fingers Up (a rollicking comedy about Northern Ireland's stuffy sex education), and Lonely (a moving one-man drama of isolation and jigsaw puzzles).
It's the month of #Halloween so we'll be looking at a #costume from our troupe each day!
Though the design of the doctoral graduation gown hasn't changed much over the centuries, you don't typically see this modern piece in Period #commedia dell'arte. However, this donated Case Western Reserve University robe delightfully has our troupe's secondary color so shows up when possible on Dottore Gratiano!
We're excited to welcome @malachiskey as one of our new Fall 2023 Reporting Fellows.
Malachi Key (He/They) is a Fall 2023 Fellow at the Texas Observer. He’s currently the Opinion Editor at the University of Houston student newspaper and has previously interned at Houston’s NPR station. He has a particular focus on investigative #journalism#LGBTQIA+ issues, and political reporting.
In his spare time, he loves watching (and occasionally participating in) pro #wrestling, is an avid participant in local #theater and can talk your ear off about #Houston’s surprisingly good #punk scene.
We're excited to welcome @malachiskey to our team (and Mastodon instance) for the next 10 weeks.
October is Filipino American History Month...Celebrate by seeing BLOODLETTING, by Boni B. Alvarez. Leelee (Anna Mulia) waits expectantly for a fellow aswang (Filipino vampire) with her grandfather Jenry (Sam Produente).
Today in Writing History September 25, 1894: Playwright John Howard Lawson was born. Lawson wrote several plays about the working class, including “The International” (1928), which depicts a proletarian world revolution and “Marching Song” (1937), about a sit-down strike. In the late 1940s, Lawson was blacklisted as a member of the “Hollywood Ten” for his refusal to tell the House Committee on Un-American Activities about his political allegiances.
The end of a production is always emotional- not only because of the friends and family I've made along the way, but also because I'm saying goodbye to the part of me that portrayed a character. Sometimes the characters we play are friends just as much as other actors were.
Woman Shares Experience of Sitting Behind Lauren Boebert at Beetlejuice
There are a few more details coming out of Denver -- the Denver Post, to be accurate -- in regards to the theatrics performed by U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert during the theatrical production of the musical "Beetlejuice" in Denver.
"What do you do when your candidate is twice impeached and four times indicted? Apparently, MAGA Republicans will do anything to try and make it look like the score is even ahead of the general election. So here we are."
Since things have reopened from pandemic shutdowns, I have been actively pursuing activities from which I derive enjoyment. One of those is going to the theater. I’m lucky to live in NYC and have really taken advantage of seeing shows and live performances to support those communities. I’ve seen quite a roster of shows this year, but saw both “& Juliet” and “Shucked” this week & both were excellent!
#rando#randonnée#hike#hiking#voyage#travel#photo#photography
