Time to start the heel. Though I fear I may have miscalculated some, the foot seem a bit long.
I think I'll still finish them as is, I recon they might fit my sister if they are a little too big for me and it would be a nice template to use for adjustments for the next pair. I have the same yarn in a different colorway as well.
In any case I'm sure they'll fit someone.
Took a detour from my Larch Peds to finish my "zoo sock." The idea was to carry as little yarn as possible when I was going to be walking for hours, but I was worried about running low on my leftover self-striping yarn so I added a contrast heel and bindoff on days when I was at home with more yarn on hand.
The self-striping was from Must Stash and the peanut brittle contrast yarn is from Knitted Wit.
I finished the cuff lining of my new Nelkin shortie so now I just have one more complex short row section to complete the actual cuff. I really hope this is super comfortable to make all this extra effort worthwhile. #knitting#SockKnitting#FiberArts@knitting (remove group to reply)
First successful heel made on the 3D-printed circular sock knitting machine! I’m still doing cuffs and toes by hand but I’m pretty impressed with my progress :) #3DPrinting#Maker#Knitting#CSMKnitting
It’s sad when personal health forces someone to make a career change from academic to knitwear designer, but when Kate Davies then uses all her skills to produce a book on textile history, women’s intellectual history, AND knitting patterns, you can definitely say her loss is our gain.
Now I’m going to finish my second Mercy Otis Warren sock, put it on and protest colonialism like she did.
More socks. I did check two skeins and they would have ended up differently even if I started both from the same end (though could only do outside since the full skein refused to let me find the inside end), so figured I might as well use up the small one as well.
Fingering weight yarn, Drops Fabel superwash, knitted on 2.5mm needles. Takes a bit time to knit, especially if one have to rip back a few rows (downside of doing two at a time is you also need to rip back two socks at the same time if you make a mistake).
Hopefully I got the math's right and they will get a good fit.
Maybe a little late to finish them in time - but "Be my valentine socks set" is such a cute #knitting pattern, it will work at other times of the year as well.
I had to put my cabled sweater in hibernation because my #postCovid brain couldn’t grok it. Which made me sad.
Then came the January Stitches and Cream sock club with a heel-up(!) DK slipper pattern which I can do(!!) and it’s SO MUCH FUN it’s probably illegal in several regions. Needless to say it’s way less complicated than it looks 😆 @knitting@knitting#knitting#sockknitting#breien
A1) Hi all, Michelle here, multicrafter extraordinaire but mostly fibre crafts if I'm honest 😁
It's been a pretty unproductive couple of months due to illness that really knocked me off my game, but this week I finally completed these socks that were started all the way back in December!
Naturally I'm also halfway down the first leg of my next pair, because it would never do to be without a sock project on the go.
Pattern is Eskarina Socks by Rachel Coopey and needless to say I love them!
Time for an update on the socks I'm knitting! The first one is almost ready to start the ribbing, about 15 more rounds to go. I did include some calf increases 😉
I feel like I should show the fedi these socks that I made to wear as an extra layer between socks and house shoes in winter. They're based on a pattern called "I heart socks" but I modifyed them.
Also I am going to try and find smaller than 2mm circular needles for my sock knitting. I just have no tension! #knitting#sockknitting
And we have socks. I did the lazy thing, which worked surprisingly well, and used the same math as with the first pair and used smaller needles (same yarn).
Maybe they are a tad bit on the small side this time, the first pair was a bit too large though.
The next pair will hopefully be perfect, I might have enough neon pink of this yarn quality to try with a couple small adjustments (or the half mm needle size in-between just because).
Knitting socks two at a time with magic loop might be easier if I had a longer cable, so far it works but as I increase for gusset it may become harder.
For one sock, the 80 cm cable was no issue though.
If it proves too hard, I guess I'll have to look into switching cables mid project. At least I do have a longer cable at hand.
When I'm "on the road" I usually knit socks. This is the first pair for this year (they are not exclusive for travel). I'm going to count how many socks I'm working on while traveling this year because I expect to do quite a bit this year.
@knitting si j’arrête de danser entre les minicirculaires, les circulaires en magic loop et le set de crasy trio, ca finit par avancer quelque peu. #Chaussettes#socks#sockknitting
