This pair of socks is my absolute favourite i ever made. I Started them in February and finished them in March.
All the details are in my blog post about them. Ican´t describe them fully here, because they are from a vintage booklet (which is free online - you will find the link also in my Blog Post). It was a weird knitting process, with only three needles and a bit of sewing.
Park knitting. This park has clearly inferior parent seating: I was sitting on the sandy ground beside a very prickly bush in an attempt to get some shade.
Pattern: Dreamboat Socks by @shannonsq but I took out a couple of slip stitch rows because I didn't love the way it looked in these colors
Yarn: @knittedwit Charm Quark and Peanut Brittle
I told a friend I would take a picture of these socks to post on here. I made the pattern myself! It took a few tries to get the cables right, when I knitted them years ago. I think they're probably my favorite pair of socks.
Marked as sensitive because it's a photo of my feet (wearing the socks).
I'm going "work-in-progress plus a queer book" route for this week's #PrideMakealong prompt, Queer Stories.
Sock: "Progress Pride" colour from Knitted Wit, pattern is Stumptown Socks by Shannon Squire
Book: "Just As You Are" is a queer reimagining of Pride and Prejudice, with the sisters transformed to a queer found family of folk working at a (failing) magazine together. I really enjoyed it but much like the source material it took me a long time to get into the main romance. Since it's pride month I'm gonna say that my lack of love for the beginning of P&P has something to do with my personal flavours of queerness: when you aren't usually attracted to people until you get to know them the "why is this asshole so hot?" vibes are not very relatable. But as the two women get to know each other better it starts to gel, and I really loved Liz's experimenting with clothes and presentation as she slowly figures out the next chapter of herself and her life. Glad I got this one as a book club pick because I might not have picked it out for myself!
My "Morning Coffee" pattern first sock is coming along pretty well. (pattern on ravelry by Kay Litton).
Knitting in Malabrigo's Ultimate sock yarn and size 1 needles (9" circulars). 64 stitches CO. Colors: Myths and Zinnias. @knitting#knitting#SockKnitting
There are about 9 g yarn left and I need to knit about 40 more rounds until the toe starts.
But considering how much I already knit (the leg alone is about 170 rounds), that should work out. I'm still a bit nervous and don't want to work on that ...
Started another pair of socks. I'm really enjoying knitting socks on 9" circular needles.
The needles are a learning curve for a few hours, reminding my hands over and over to RELAX and not clench the little tips... but it's going nice and smooth now. Really zoooms fast down the leg and foot! (I switch to my old standard dpns for the heel and toe parts).
This is Malabrigo Ultimate sock yarn (with a bit of nylon in it) in the cool quirky color "Myths". #knitting@knitting#SockKnitting
I released the Hapax Socks today! Ideal for OOAK hand-dyed yarns, these toe-up socks have a classically-beautiful geometric texture that fills the instep, leg, and gussets. The horizontal stitches are formed in a way that keeps the fabric stretchy, and a traditional shape with adjustable sizing makes these a great-fitting design with thoughtful details.
