99.9% of jobs do not require urgency of any kind, really they don't. We've all had a boss who acts like someone will die if we don't hit some made up deadline by people who don't even do the job. No one needs their meal 1 minute faster or the paperwork before tomorrow morning. Your time off actually doesn't need to wait. Sometimes I think about how legitimately bad most businesses are at time management and hiring, and I wonder how they manage to exist at all.

Welp, I knew Microsoft's CoPilot+ Recall was going to be a privacy disaster but I didn't expect it to turn into an enterprise computing catastrophe for Microsoft quite this fast!

But this can't be a one-off. Any large enterprise that has to comply with a regulated privacy environment—HIPAA in the USA, GDPR in the EU, banking/insurance/finance globally—must be considering a ban on Microsoft installations on laptop/desktop computers right now or be breaking the law.

If I could teach my students one thing, it’s that you don’t have the power to stop people from making poor choices. And if they make poor choices after you’ve given them all the information and resources to make good choices, you have to let the responsibility lie with them. Save yourself the sleepless nights and guilt because it will burn you out in the end if you approach clinical practice with the idea that you can save people from themselves.

My EMR won’t print prescriptions. First I need to print to PDF then print it. Then I need to make sure every clinic day that I’ve deleted the mountain of prescriptions that litter my PC desktop. Don’t you think a piece of expensive subscription medical software should just FUCKING PRINT PRESCRIPTIONS?

This EMR is somehow still more functional than the last one I used
