Because of #monsterdon I learned the concept of Chekhov's gun, and I realized this is the perfect distillation of what should and should not go in #ScienceWriting#ScienceCommunication. I've struggled to communicate to students what info they need to leave out of talks and manuscript introductions. I realize that Chekhov's gun is the perfect tool to explain it.
If the concept is not going to make a major contribution later in the talk or manuscript, it doesn't belong.
A new writer-owned, reader-funded science magazine has been founded - the Sequencer Mag.
I really hope it will thrive. I've been interviewed by one of their founders, Shi En Kim for her recent Nature piece on #longCovid and she has been the most caring and thoughtful person to interact with
The #security topic presented by Jaya Baloo and hosted by Julia Cremer at the Quantum Technology Gala at the #Tivoli in #Utrecht last week seems to have reached the #EU parliament and #NOS too.
My time in California is coming to a close this week and I am grateful to the organizers for the opportunities to talk about Plastic pollution and the impacts of microplastics to human health research we are conducting at RTI International.
