A rare book from the Dr. Fu Manchu man, this is a pleasant, short mystery story with all the tropes: a PI who is frenemy with the police inspector; beautiful woman with secrets, a corpse who is not really dead (at first), and so on. Very readable.
With #Alberta facing a continuing drought, some communities are banning oil and gas industry from using municipal #water.
"A regional agency in Alberta has banned oil and gas operations from using its treated water, as a severe drought parching Western Canada leads municipalities to prepare restriction plans."

12 % municipalities,
47% agriculture.

Love the subversive cover art of this 1955 issue of the Worlds of IF science fiction magazine, featuring art by Kelly Freas. It could have easily made the cover of Métal Hurlant, a.k.a Heavy Metal, back in the days of its outrageous 70s era ⚡️
It's a mid-week special on Deep Cuts in a Lovecraftian Vein with "Deeper Cut: Weird Tales, Birth Control, and the Mysterious Dr. Fouts" - a deep dive into advertising, Comstock laws, and the grim consequences of mail-order sex education.
