On #GroundhogDay I was checking in with my namesake #AlanTheGroundhog and I learned that apparently at overnight music festivals in the UK it's become a thing to yell "Alan" in the middle of the night?
Via TheTab: "Who is Alan? The hunt for the lost soul who keeps us all awake at festivals every year"
Happy Groundhog Day! I am a fan of the absurdity of weather prognosticating rodents and celebrate Groundhog Day with my thermochromic linocut. The shadow is visible if the ambient temperature is <30°C and disappears when >30°C (and it’s a safe bet winter is over or you are overheating your home. So I argue my print is as dependable as any celebrity rodent! 🧵1/2
Bruja here reminding you that we are halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, aka… the beginning of #Spring, #LaCandelaria (get your tamales ready), #Groundhog’sDay, #Imbolc, celebrations of the budding earth. Our people are united by our reverence for earth’s cycles. What’s blooming for you?
#Christmas vs #Yuletide
Many (most?) people who celebrate the third week of December with masses of food & presents are in fact celebrating Yuletide or #Chanukah rather than the birth of Christ.
Does anyone else think it is time to hive off Yuletide? - for one thing, the celebration of Christmas rightly begins on Christmas Eve after a month of fasting during Advent, and only ends on February 2nd with #Candlemas. (Or, if you prefer, #Groundhog Day)
