The rule is that the #Fediverse is for things you love not things you #hate; unless either of those are made by a #corporation, in which case it's vice versa.
#Threads by #Meta forcing itself into the #Fediverse is bad and will harm the Fediverse as a whole if not straight up kill it.
I am baffled to see claims such as "we should give them a chance!" or "this could help the Fediverse grow!", as if we're not talking about one of the probably most immoral, unethical, and predatory businesses in this day and age.
Meta isn't coming to play fair. They're coming to use us for profit.

Agree. They can't have it both ways… #churches are NOT the sum of the faithful. They are at best spiritual organizations for like minded individuals. Once they start acting in the #political sphere they are no longer protected and should be #taxed like any other #corporation.
Information from the shop floor going up is carefully filtered. Hence edicts from above are misguided and indiscriminate. They are then wilfully misinterpreted by layers below.
The purpose of a #corporation is not #shareholder value or delighting customers or looking after employees. It is to move as much #money as possible into the pockets of its senior managers.
This is because senior managers make the decisions, and that is their primary objective. Why else would you be a senior manager? Despite their posturing, it's really not a fun job.
This is one reason why companies are not #rational actors.

We are supporting yet another big greedy #corporation collecting #data on us, we should be promoting open protocols or services that don't do such a thing
