Ken Zinser encourages to publish "cornerstone pages" on personal websites and blogs, i.e. pages with standardized URLs and well defined content such as /about, /blogroll, /contact, /now, /photos, and more.
"The problem then isn’t a lack of blogs and personal sites or the frequency at which new posts get published, but rather the visibility and discoverability of our sites and our posts in the constant noise of social media chatter."
The Monday Kickoff blog is curation at its finest.
Once per week writer and essayist Scott Nesbitt shares "links to nine interesting, thought-provoking, and sometimes infuriating articles".
It's a great resource in the tradition of early link sharing blogs, a gem of the open web. Every week I look forward to checking it out as there's always something interesting for me.
"The old web was all about having your own place on the web, lovingly crafting your homepage and tending to it over time, filling it with whatever we felt was interesting."
@realTuckFrumper ...and if you don't have enough sense to leave X, you'll just be kicked out by the bossclown.🤪
Question remains: Why are they still there anyway? The internet is bigger than a former wellknown/respected platform.

I am curious, how many of you still read #blogs as I know this will be somewhat skewd beause a lot of you all are here more techy and such. But do you prefer more video content or even blog posts that have an audio version where you can stream the audio of the post.
Personally I still read blogs, but I will admit where I do a lot of multi-tasking work these days I typically use a screen reader to read aloud the post to me while I work if it is a particularly long post.
Started a brain dump for a new blog post. Something I've been thinking about and talking about with different people here and there. Mental health, technology, etc. The strange times we're all navigating.

Bitter, es gab so viel positive Rückmeldungen dazu.
Reading "People and Blogs" is becoming a bit inspiring. It's making me want to do more "meaningful" writing apart from simple off-the-cuff blog entries. Just not sure what kind. #Writing#Blogs#Blogging
Thinking about setting up a blog that is markdown. Anyone know if a self hosted blog like this exists that has a crappy, ugly theme I could use with it?
The real problem with Blogs by Phone is the service lock in. We need to update the #activitypub API to federate the calling and reading of posts to family members. cc @anildash
