(ses obsèques auront lieu le 15/02 à Vidauban)
Special thanks to all my fellow SubGenii who tuned in last night for SOMETHING NEW TO DIE FOR. You are all beautiful mutants worthy of regeneration. We shall have another SubGenius-themed show soon. Take care and remember . . . fuck em' if they can't take a joke.
Back when it was just called Raiders. Also this is like... new????? It still has a seal with the paramount logo to prevent the VHS from slipping out. Wild to think I'll be the first to watch this copy and got it for only a dollar.
Very long-shot request here... but does anyone have an original VHS rip of the Seybold New York keynote by Steve Jobs? The MP4 available on archive.org has some nightmarish codec issues, and the only version on YT is 144p.
Even if it's not a first-generation rip, I'm sure we can do better than this 😮
Sorry for all the hashtags here, trying to get a little exposure on this.
I have to admit that this is the first of the #VHS movies I have watched. I wasn't sure what to expect. But I really enjoyed this! It was a compilation of original stories that were just #brutal at times! A must watch for the #horror enthusiast! #vhs94#horrormoviesandchill
Is there something like #MusicBrainz, but for video? A database of #VHS, #DVD, #BluRay etc. releases with technical information like resolution, codecs, audio & subtitle languages, but also listing playtime, bonus features, and errors (e.g. "broken VFX in the scene at 12:34, fixed by subsequent re-release a year later") and so on?
The Washington Post just published an article about the return of video rental stores, something I noticed first-hand this weekend in Fredericksburg, VA when I made a wrong turn looking for the comic shop:
I cannot believe people are nostalgic for #vhs. Everything about vhs was fucking terrible. The tapes wore out after not that many watches, VHS players were horrible loud and expensive, the boxes for tapes fell apart quickly. Don’t pine for the bygone era when it was as shitty as tapes were.
I have watched Groundhog Day 300 times this year!!! Once a day, every day, since the holiday the movie is based on. It's amazing I've gotten this far!
I've been using the same #VHS, which had never been opened or played before, for about the last 150 watches. Its sound had been warping but it actually mostly behaved today as you can see in the video before. It was a trooper and must have known this would be its last performance before retirement.
I'll likely be watching via LaserDisc and occasionally on digital for now on. You did good VHS, you did good...
