My email inbox is starting to suffer from my being at #MSBuild. I'm going to have a lot of catching up to do when I get back to my normal schedule next week.
It's been more than worth it, though. I've had a chance to play with GitHub Copilot Chat a little bit, and I think this is going to have a huge impact on how quickly my team and I are able to make improvements to the software projects we're mending.
But seriously, if a human ran a search-and-replace on variable names and published code in violation of its license as their own, they’d be just as culpable. The only difference here is that it’s occurring at arms’ length from #OpenAI’s developers.
And yeah, after eighteen months of #GitHub#Copilot’s existence, I’m going to condescend to any alleged #SoftwareDeveloper that doesn’t see this as glaringly obvious.
I work inhouse 1st and 2nd (and for some things 3rd) line tech support at a goverment agency.
We develop almost everything we use in-house since there literally isn't anywhere out there that fits our needs.
Anyway, we (as in Tech Support and Network Security) have an issue with devs just... taking for granted that they can use any program they want, download what they want etc.
I've written one #romcom#novel so far, not yet published, and a few articles on #extremeProgramming which were published. I might be a better editor than a writer.
my literary heroes include Terry Pratchett #discworld and Theodore Sturgeon
