#ProLifeTip. Put more effort into periodically reinforcing the learning that got you to this point in your career, because at some point you might spend a weekend implementing something from scratch and realising you've literally forgotten it all.
The wheel aren't rusty, they've fallen off.
How does one work with #Laravel?
What is a Dockerfile? WTF is Vite?

Watching the BBC Panorama episode about the Post Office Horizon IT Scandal, I feel so so sorry for those who got caught up in an awful buggy system, and especially to those who took their own lives because of it.
For anyone who is a software developer, please watch the documentary. You need to realise that the software you write can actually impact people in negative ways.
Back when I was a #SoftwareDeveloper, I would spend a blur of hours, days, weeks writing amazing code that solved problems in ingenious ways. And then I'd be pissed off when my manager took some of the glory. The fuck did he do?
Now I'm a manager. When I do my job well I clear obstacles so far in advance that my developers never know they existed; I line up projects so my team works to a crescendo; I make genius happen.
Long day (week?) at work and a realization; regardless of your profession, caring and having empathy will make you significantly better at your job well beyond actual ability (as a #softwaredeveloper this hits home more to me).
In other words, just give a shit about what you’re doing and the people you’re doing it with.
Sometimes I like to post lyrics that speak to me, more often I put my foot in my mouth, but I always try to promote being authentic rather than anonymous.
For six miserable months, I came to work every day feeling like an impostor until I found a #developer job at another company. Did they intend to get rid of me? Who knows.
I should actually be working 8h a day, but most of it is spend not working. If I’m honest I’m probably working more like 3h a day even though I enjoy my job.
Same. 3h or less usually. Love my colleagues, the work is fine. But the requirements are so low that I’m able to manage a startup during work hours 😌 #softwaredeveloper
Coming from the #birdsite diaspora, I'll try and find a new home here. My posts will likely center on whatever media I'm currently enjoying, as well as news and political issues that I find important.
How many hours a day do you actually work?
