Look I’d love to get a new - I love playing with this sort of tech. I have a few older ones kicking around still too! But I won’t be buying one because I don’t like to support a company that belittles people for taking an ethical stance against hiring known surveillance police to help support that particular market. It was dismissive, exclusionary, and pushing minority groups out of making spaces. And they still don’t think they’ve done anything wrong.

With the releasing, don't forget how they boasted about hiring an ex surveillance cop, then ridiculed the people who criticized them for it.

Also remember how you weren't able to buy a Pi for months because they prioritized supplying their business customers.

I'm not buying products any longer, nor do I recommend them to my friends and clients. The Pi Foundation has become seriously out of touch.

If your first thought when you hear that a company that makes computers and writes curricula that trains kids how to use computers proudly hired a spy cop and gave the middle finger to those who raised ethical concerns is to defend the company and the spy cop in question, you should take a moment, stop what you’re doing, and give yourself a firm slap in the face.

It won’t change anything but it’ll make me feel better at least.

might soon start supporting the 5 thx to patches from Andrea della Porta:

https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/cover.1715332922.git.andrea.porta@suse.com/ – Add minimal boot support for Raspberry Pi 5

If you just thought "But Linux already supports the , see ", then you just learned why differentiating between the called Linux (meant here) and operating systems called Linux (often build from forks of the former carrying modifications and enhancements) is important.

Raspberry Pi releases two new specs for add-ons, one for the FFC connector for the PCIe interface, and another for HAT+ boards like the upcoming M.2 HAT+ that lets you add an SSD to a Raspberry Pi 5. https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/double-standards/ #RaspberryPi #RaspberryPi5 #HATPlus

My new #RaspberryPi5 home server is now fully operational with with #AdGuardHome and #HomeBridge running on docker. Ditched #HomeAssistant because it’s cumbersome and integrates poorly with #HomeKit

In the meantime, I’ve bought some #SNES style USB pads and a case for the #RaspberryPi 4 #RetroPie. No expectations, because they were cheap AF…🤡 It just didn’t feel right playing those classics on a modern #XBox pad and I have just one…🤷🏻‍♂️ I want to share the sentiment with my wife and the kids…🥰

I got a Raspberry Pi 5 a while ago, and little by little I'm adding some software I'll find useful (and also figuring out how the darn OS works; I've never used Unix-like OSes before).
