Today we’re announcing the addition of PixelFed and Bluesky to our social web integrations on Flipboard.
Now you can see posts from Mastodon, PixelFed, Bluesky and, of course, Flipboard all in the same user experience. You can favorite, reply to, and boost any post. You can follow any user. You can explore any hashtag. And you can post text, photos and links to any timeline. Bluesky is available today for Flipboard on iOS and Android. PixelFed will be live in a few days.
@peterbutler since I already have a #WordPress site working on the #Fediverse I'd probably go that route. A close second would be standing up my own #Pixelfed instance, but that would require more maintenance overhead for me I think.
I wonder if people threatening to block Facebook's/Meta's new ActivityPub-compatible social media network also automatically block emails coming from gmail.com.
i know it's gauche to ask for boosts on the fediverse, and normally I never do. but every time I search for #contentcreator on my own instance I get NOTHING, and I don't want to have to make a half dozen accounts on other instances to find other creators either. if I could just establish a network of fellow #creators (preferably #videoCreators, but #artists, #writers, #photographers etc are fine also) here on my home account, that would be wonderful.
maybe I could even find some creators to say hello to at #anaheim#vidcon in three weeks 😁
@toplesstopics hello my name is Moshe and I am a cybersecurity and tech content creator. I am most popular on #Tiktok with 336K followers, but I also have a #Twitch where I do gaming on Linux as well as tech tinkering streams that are simulcast to my Tiktok. I also have a #Peertube and #Pixelfed I should really post more to as well. Finally I do have a #youtube which is set to have proper content launch soon, and of course a Wordpress blog. I have it all in my links #contentcreator
Whether it's #BlueSky or #Meta, I just do not understand how anyone can possibly give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their intentions with federated networking. Like, it's not like the internet is new. We have countless examples of what billionaires do with their power. They never try to make things better for us. They always try to accumulate profit for them at the expense of anyone else. How many times do people need to be fucked over before they learn?
I've decided to use the web version of #Mastodon (and #Pixelfed) instead of the #android mobile app. I've saved their icons on the home screen (opens through browser).
Now I have an issue with the search for #hashtags, the recently searched terms are not showing after I close the website.
It's extremely annoying, since there's no list of hashtags that user follows anyway, so I need to type them manually each time.
At the moment, I am posting public policy and urbanism stuff on #Mastodon, cultural and spirituality stuff on #Calckey, photos on #Pixelfed, and videos on #PeerTube -- and then crossboosting them on platforms. Is that what others are doing, or am I overcomplicating the #Fediverse?
I just realized that #Google killing #JpegXL has a direct negative impact on the #Fediverse, by imposing higher bandwidth and storage requirements for anyone hosting media. Platforms like #PixelFed in particular would greatly benefit from being able to transcode everything to #jxl for storage (with no additional loss of quality thanks to the possibility to transcode directly from #jpeg in most cases), reducing storage and bandwidth by 10% or more, easily.
We don't need another #ActivityPub profile for every type of content we produce.
It's like creating one email address for sending people videos and another for sending them photos. Just have one email address and use it for both of those things.
I think Pixelfed and Peertube should just let you authenticate with whatever #Fediverse address you already have, and then use their API to publish or view your feed in whatever special way they want to.
ChatGPT, YouChat can be really helpful to write ALT text of images (If you're bad at describing the image like me)
...
For example I wrote : "A portrait of a red rose. Besides the rose an announcement is written: 'Post editing is now available on NixOrigin' "
And asked YouBot to rewrite this.
Here's the result : "An announcement about post editing being available on NixOrigin accompanied by a photo of a red rose."
