@selea I have a theory, SourceHut was hosted by cogent which previously hosted #kiwifarms, after they dropped it Joshua Moon the kiwifarms founder threw a fit and made a post on his telegram channel encouraging his followers to make fraudulent reports to Cogent's abuse reporting system

For years I've been saying that using Microsoft GitHub to host #FLOSS code is dangerous and would backfire. :blobcatcoffee:
Shure I could spin up a #GitLab but then try to find some Hoster that is willing to deal with #KiwiFarms apologists #DDoS'ing it offline or harrassing staff of said hoster.
I know #Microsoft - like #AllGafamsAreEvil and they are a #PRISM collaborator, but I've yet to see a better option that doesn't cost me €€€€€, cuz my projects have literally ZERO funding.
Everyone who defends or apoligizes #KiwiFarms deserves to get blocked on sight.
If you think it's a "hill worth dying on" then get your facts straight:
KiwiFarms is literally the acid-filled openpit mine of hate and solely being used by people who get banned from 4chan, 8kun, MumsNet and other shitsites.
OFC everyone who facilitates services for #KiwiFarms is equally guilty and should also be blocked - regardless if registrars, hosters, colocators or transit providers.
I've read the post from the #EFF that seems to have a whole bunch of people claiming that the EFF is protecting #KiwiFarms and... I'm not sure if the angry folks have actually read the same article I did?
The EFF pretty clearly condemns KF, first, and they are making an argument about legal precedent here.
I live in the USA, and lemme tell you, I can easily see this precedent being abused to harm women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ folks.
@KelsonV well, either @eff didn't put any effort in it or it pretty much flew under the radar of everyone I know...
Needless to say #KiwiFarms is the last thing they should defend, and even if they did actually get their asses up regarding #cyberfacism in the past, allying with #Hategroomers and #StochasticTerrorists that have a literal bodycount of 3 confirmed and a dozen unconfirmed does undo everything they did well in the past...
#HurricaneElectric isn'a a Tier-1 and even if they were, there is no legal mandate for them to accept anything or provide services to anyone.
Espechally since there's no legally enforceable #NetNeutrality :loading: nor are they regulated as a "utility service" with "must provide" clauses.
Providers are already very twitchy and they'll block entire ASNs if they get listed by #Spamhaus.
#KiwiFarms is indefensible thus invalid discussion.
if there were a website called "we will pay anyone 3 million untraceable dollars to murder a specific member of the EFF" i wonder if the EFF would change its tune on whether it's sometimes justifiable for tier 1 ISPs to take something off the internet. or if that specific member would just be expected to take one for Team The Abstract Principle Of Free Speech.
that's basically what everyone who understands that kwifrms has a literal body count has been telling them.
The problem with the EFF's reasoning here is that these very same ISPs and other sorts of people have ALWAYS been attacking and taking down and banning marginalized people's content for spurious reasons - time and time again. The real world is ALREADY shit for marginalized people - there's no slippery slope to fall down, we're ALREADY down the slippery slope.
I've had this beef with the fucking neoliberals in the EFF and ACLU for decades - they seem to think riding to the defense of right wing hate groups protects marginalized people ... but then crickets when sex workers are banned from the financial system. Or when trans people are harassed, swatted, and doxxed off the internet by organized gangs of bigoted thugs.
There's NEVER a right time to ride to the defense of Nazis. EVER!
Corporate censorship of #KiwiFarms, even for those of us who are not fond of their content, shows us the slippery slope by which censorship will seize the net.
Menschen, die Straftaten im Netz begehen, müssen bestraft werden. Und was passiert danach?
