Falls hier jemand auch ein Konto bei #Facebook oder #Instagram hat: Ab 26. Juni will Betreiberkonzern #Meta die Inhalte von Beiträgen fürs Training eigener KI einsetzen. Man kann widersprechen. Doch Meta entscheidet, ob es den Widerspruch annimmt.

I got a notification on #Facebook that #Meta plans to use my posts etc. for training #AI and said they were using the Legitimate Interest justification for doing it.
So #Meta is expanding their #AI features on #Facebook and I was presented with the following. It states I have a "right to object." The next sentence begins with "if your objection is honored...."
WTF? I have a right to object but they get to decide if they want to honor it? What kind of "right" is that? Did they mistype, "You have the slight possibility to object"
To really drive home the "fuck you" nature of this, I clicked on the "right to object" link.
Really sick of these big tech companies.

"...We may still process information about you to develop and improve AI at Meta, even if you object or don’t use our Products and services"
Interesting… notification in Facebook telling me I can object to my data being used to improve AI at Facebook and that if my objection is honoured then that will be the case going forward.
I submitted the form and just got an email saying they will honour my objection.

@jasonkoebler hat sich angeschaut, wie viel "KI" inzwischen auf der Meta-Plattform unterwegs ist. Es scheint schlinmer zu sein, als ich dachte. Und Meta hat keinerlei Interesse, etwas daran zu ändern.
W sumie nie wiem, po co miałbym opublikować kolejną negatywną informację o Facebooku. Przecież - gdzie jak gdzie - ale w Fediwersum wszyscy mają już wyrobione zdanie. Ale jednak ta informacja powinna dotrzeć jak najszerzej: Meta (firma Facebooka) zatwierdziła od razu ponad połowę z ogłoszeń zawierających nawoływanie do nienawiści i przemocy w czasie wyborów w Indiach. Ogłoszenia te nie ukazały się, bo zostały wycofane przez autorów eksperymentu. Ale może to wskazywać, że Facebook masowo zatwierdza naprawdę bardzo, bardzo szkodliwe treści.
I guess making money somewhat honestly by having customers that actually pay for a service with at least some guarantees of privacy and safety is not as lucrative as having an open platform network where people are tricked into giving out all their data while they are spied upon for whatever reasons.

I logged in to Facebook a day or two ago to pin a post that basically said: "I'm still around, just not here. My email is ______ and here's a link to my blog. Stay in touch if you're so inclined."
I've had contact with a few folks. I really despise how FB has become so entrenched in my friends lives. I'd love for them all to leave it, but they're too invested.

From what I gather, today Facebook unilaterally flagged heaps of Humanitix links and events as spam and deleted them.
That's people's livelihoods on the line.
But it's the price we pay for collectively trusting one centralised company with our entire social lives online. Especially one that gives its decisions over to algorithms rather than humans.
