Excited to see the fantastic response to the #FOSSY call for proposals and the "FOSS For Education" Community Track.
Many thanks to @moodle and @creativecommons for their help in promoting the track and to @conservancy staff for all their help, patience, and initiative.
Session proposal reviews are underway and registration is now open.
Today is the FOSSY conference's Community: Open Source in Practice's office hours! Join us at 11 AM Pacific/2 PM Eastern on May 12 on BigBlueButton - bring your ideas/drafts/etc for your FOSSY CfP in progress, or any questions you have about the track! Thanks again to the @conservancy for making this conference happen!
Quick reminder that the #FOSSY CFP closes soon and we’d love some more talks for the #gamedev and #FOSS intersection track.
It’s at the amazing OCC and has a great Covid safe policy https://2023.fossy.us/
Reminded that it's both #Eurovision weekend, and the new #Zelda game is out tomorrow… which means I had really better get to work on my @pyconau, @djangocon, @conservancy#FOSSY, and #KiwiPyCon proposals today.
(And everyone else, you should work on your @northbaypython proposals before you get irretrievably distracted too!)
You've got until May 18 to submit a paper for FOSSY! Yay! That means more time to draft and brainstorm - and the 'Community: Open Source in Practice' team would love to help.
Join me, @josh and @alpacaherder this Friday, May 12 at 12:00 Pacific/15:00 Eastern/19:00 UTC on Jitsy (thanks, @conservancy !). For at least one hour, maybe two, we'll offer advice and feedback in a welcoming, supportive atmosphere.
I've just submitted my OSM/Wikidata linking talk to be considered for #FOSSY, the new annual Free Software conference being held in Portland, Oregon. I picked the 'wildcard' track because I'm not sure where it fits.
Happy May the Fourth, everyone! It's not just Star Wars Day, but it's 10 days until the CfP for the awesome "Community: Open Source in Practice" at the inaugural FOSSY closes! If you have a great idea about the 'how' of community, are able to travel to Portland, Oregon from July 13-16, and appreciate a conference with a vigorous Health and Safety policy, @juliaferraioli@josh@alpacaherder and I can't wait to review your submission!
Do you or someone you know host a FOSS-related podcast? Would you like a charming person to squee about the upcoming community track at FOSSY (Portland, OR, July 13-16) on a podcast to be aired between now and May 10-12?
We're seeking proposals from prospective speakers, covering a wide range of topics: community management, program management, contributor experience, governance, sustainability, succession planning, you name it!
I'm helping to chair the containers track along with Josh Berkus and Melissa Logan, and we're looking for exceptional talks about all things "New Cloud", especially those that aren't your standard #KubeCon fare.
This is an excellent event for new speakers. If you love all things containers, and are in the PNW (or want to pay a visit to the spectacular Silicon Forest), I hope that you'll apply.
