@flatcar @aral this ☝️ might be relevant to your interests. Still in Alpha - i.e. fully tested but expect rough edges in the user experience. Provisioning is currently a bit clunky, see https://github.com/apricote/flatcar-packer-hcloud/tree/oem-image-prebuilt on how to create a server in HCloud.

Would be awesome if interested folks could pick this up and help smoothing out the UX!

    In February 2017 I restarted the blog. On a .info domain instead of .de, and in English instead of German.

    That happened after giving up the old blog after the legal situation in Germany for bloggers became unsatisfactory.

    I used Wordpress instead of the old Serendipity, because Wordpress offered mobile layouts and mobile backend apps.

    @isotopp Couldn't agree more. I'm using Hugo / github pages + github actions for building for multiple sites, it's pretty neat.

    What theme are you using with Hugo? (Or is it an entirely custom one?)

    @larsmb It's not about personal preference (but "thanks" for the ad hominem, anyway) but about a faithful adaption. Which I guess was what surprised me in the original post, and made me wonder - given the games' notoriety in this regard - about expectations.

    Yeah, sure, but ...

    Good luck finding such an attack in proprietary code.
    Via the cliché paid off/blackmailed employee, hacked dev servers/repos, or via capitalism's favorite cost-cutting measure: a remote "offshored" contracted temporary developer (or nowadays, embedded into some LLM output).

    If anything, Open Source Security has worked.

    @larsmb Solarwinds, Midnight Blizzard, the Cisco / Juniper backdoor of the month, etc etc. Plenty of examples. Usually take months (if not years) to be found, often way longer to be fixed.

    People buy proprietary products to pass along responsibility, then invest heavily to maintain their illusion of "having done everything that can be done" to stay secure.

    Was tun? Abregeln ist doof!

    Eine Tonne Wasserstoff hat einen Brennwert von ca. 140 MJ oder 39 MWh. Elektrolyse kommt so bei 70% (+/- 10%) Effizienz rein.

    5000t H2 sind also 195 GWh Energiegehalt im H2 bei bummelig 280 GWh Verbrauch.

    @isotopp Meine Seat Mo 125 kommt mit einem 5.4kWh-Akku. Damit bringt sie mich effektiv 80km (bin dick geworden). Der 760Li braucht 25 dieser Batterien auf 100km.

    A little while ago we proposed a change to the #UAPIGroup system extension spec, adding optional mutability: https://github.com/uapi-group/specifications/pull/78
    (Although I filed the PR, it's based on the initiative of multiple #Flatcar #Linux maintainers)

    Now a fellow maintainer took a first stab at a reference implementation in #systemd: https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/31000

    Mutable overlays will make #sysexts more versatile and flexible, and will make them easier to use on general purpose distros. Really awesome to see this happen!

    Wir haben unser Haus mit Sonnenpaneelen und einem Ladepunkt vom Discounter ausgerüstet. Das hat gemischt gut funktioniert. Die Installation der Solarmodule hat ausgezeichnet funktioniert, der Installateur des Ladepunktes war inkompetent und schlecht ausgerüstet.

    Jetzt wird Zonneplan Ende des Monats Hausbatterien anbieten. Das ist spannend, weil die konzeptuell gleich als Netztstabilisator angeboten werden, also nicht nur Solarstrom vom Dach beziehen, …

    @isotopp Holla, das ist ja mal eine Hausnummer. Der inzwischen niedrigere Strompreis dürfte aber auch durch niedrigere Preise bei den Windrädern kompensiert werden, oder? Das heißt, wenn das Bundesland nicht mal wieder die Anlieferung via Autobahn blockiert.

    You can then "[x] Hide these posts from home" on this list.

    In order for this to work, follow the instructions in the readme. Specifically, goto /settings/applications on your Masto instance, and add an application.

    I've been using lists with the Mastodon deck ("advanced" web interface) to create queues for priority accounts, regular feed, and topic specific columns (tech, news, fun, bots, etc.), and your script neatly complements this concept.

    If you haven't heard about torcx, don't worry about it. It's a rather specific tool for a very limited use case. Sysexts on the other hand make customising immutable, image-based Linux distros like Flatcar a lot more flexible!

    Wir haben dem Sohn also einen neuen Dedi besorgt.

    Diesmal keine VM, sondern Blech. 12 Threads, 128 GB RAM, SSD. Hauptsächlich deswegen, weil sein Discord jetzt mehr als 500 User hat und sein Minecraft-Server zu viele gleichzeitige Spieler hat und an seine Grenzen gekommen ist.

    Und die neue Kiste macht Spaß. "Minecraft-Region-Fixer -p 12" und 200 MB/s I/O gehen ganz anders von der Hand als auf dem alten Virtuozzo-Billig-Dedi.

    Rechtzeitig vor Weihnachten werden wir das Minecraft umziehen.
