Not only is the #FOSSY CfP open, but in what I think is a new innovation for conferences, we're also taking proposals for topics you'd like to see keynote panels on! You don't have to serve on the panel. We'll pick some of the best suggestions and bring together the right people. We want to make sure we're covering the topics that people most want to hear about!
I'm thinking of heading to @NorthBayPython and @conservancy#FOSSY in late June through early August. Anybody interested in subletting my Moonee Ponds apartment while I'm gone if I can swing that? Has on-site pool and gym, and is very central, surrounded by shops and restaurants. (It’s a lovely apartment and area, but rent is $650/w!)

So... there's a free software conference (#FOSSY [1]) in #pdx (Portland, OR) this year, and I was thinking of applying to have a table there where folks could bring (supported) devices they want to flash with #postmarketOS, or just to hang out and chat about pmOS or #linuxmobile.
If I were choosing just based on the event itself, #FOSSY 100%. But #GenCon is a fun excuse to visit friends and family back in my hometown of Indianapolis.
I posted the closing statement from my talk at FOSSY earlier this year in text format, in case anyone is interested. It's titled "Software is Political"
It mentions progress updates, challenges, and links to recent #sustainoss podcast interview, and #fossy presentation video (and older 2022 #libreplanet presentation) with updated, clearer explanations of the economics of #publicgoods and discussion of #cooperation and #collectiveaction dilemmas.
I spoke at FOSSY this summer in Portland and the videos have been posted recently. If you'd like to see my talk about Free Software Policy with Semi-Firm Firmware, where I compare firmware with tofu, you can find the video here:
Video of a great talk from @josh at #FOSSY this past July covering how #OpenSource & #FreeSoftware events can be more inclusive and supportive of their contributors by having strong #health and safety policies like those from @phpledge.
