Just wondering if there's a website/account for guide of using Matrix/Element? Sort of like Fedi.tips to get to know Fediverse software (primarily just Mastodon at best)
This is a request to all FOSS projects who only use matrix for communicating with the community.
Please consider bridging your rooms with IRC or XMPP.
India has banned Element, the most widely used Matrix client. I know it's just a client, but to be safe it's wiser to stay away from matrix for a while. So please help us in this regard.
Discord being down is a reminder and good a time as any to try out some decentralized alternatives.
Have you ever heard of @matrix or @element ?
The protocol is run by a nonprofit foundation and it shares similarities with #Discord except it's self hosted and #federated.
Made a "Space" that works kind of like a Discord server here:
I was hoping my #Matrix experience would be better after setting up my own #Synapse and #Element servers, but I think it's worse. It takes 10-15+ minutes to join a room that's on another server.
I really want Matrix to be the federated chat platform that #OpenSource communities (and others) can move to, but we need to somehow solve these latency problems.
Why do almost none of the Matrix clients except Element Web/Desktop or Nheko have a feature to forward messages? It's sooo useful to bridge users like me and it conserves bandwith and storage too when it comes to media attachments.
Ok so @element now sells encrypted messaging to cops. When your only paying customer opposes privacy for all, how can you develop a product and claim that it's built for people who want privacy for all??
Complete loss of credibility🤦♂️
Does anyone else feel like #element should start exploring new ways for UI because having too many channels subscribed just gets hard to navigate, at least on Android?
Rant: I've been into computing since 1986 or so but just now signing into a #Matrix room with #Element or the #Gnome Fractal client completely baffles me. I've been trying for half an hour and I can't get it done. How is this the future of encrypted chat?
"Yes, we fund #Matrix dev by selling encrypted messaging to governments, which includes police: if you don’t like that then please feel free to use a different app."
Hi! Are you a #lawyer or other #legal professional? Cool, but also, condolences.
We here at https://esq.social want to help. We're a purpose-built #Mastodon instance to provide a home base on the #fediverse for all you looney tunes.
Join us, won't you? We're nice and we've been around for a year -- which is like a decade in fediverse time.
We also have a #Slack-like platform called #Element with about 30 folks popping in and out. I’ll put that link in the next toot.
