Allowing self hosted servers and audio/video sharing have been its highlights. #Matrix/#Element does the former, though in unsure of the latter. I personally prefer signing up with an email than phone number or crypto hash. Though never seem to be the one to pick the new service.
How we ran a 300+ attendee conference online using an open source stack including tech like #Jitsi, #PeerTube, and #Matrix / #Element - and attendees had a great experience!
After iOS, Element X beta is now available on Android. Go rush it, break the app, report bugs, let's all get fun together! Oh, and it's extremely fast, don't be surprised.
can someone explain to me why everyone seems to equate #Matrix with #Element ?
As far as i'm aware (which is little) Element is just software building on the Matrix protocol, so why am i hearing things about this AGPL move by Element affecting Matrix in any way? "is this the start of commerciallising Matrix" like what?
#Facebook i #Instagram zniknęły z ekranu głównego mojego telefonu.
What is the state of notifications on #matrix#element (android) without #google push service? I mean by that havin own matrix server and no google play service on the phone (only frdoid, no microg)
#Element is finally getting a speed improvement. The “secret sauce” to achieve this performance boost boils down to having the client only fetch data relevant to the current UI, and progressively request additional data as the user moves around the app.
“The app directly drives sliding sync to fetch precisely the right data needed to render its UI as rapidly as possible.”
Big controversy on mastodon over #matrix#element selling to police. I’m of two minds. It sucks but it’s normal. The whole internet was made for surveillance. I’m not surprised at all. Read Surveillance Valley: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34220713
Thank you for all the great replies and responses to this poll! It somehwat confirmed my belief that Signal is the goto for most for secure, end to end encrypted chat (which I have used on occasion). But I also learned about other options I had never known about before including many decentralized options. Check out the replies to my poll to see them. #Signal#Matrix#Element#WhatsApp#Telegram#Synapse#Wire#Threema#SecureChat#E2EE#Messaging
#Element und Lese-Marker bei Threads (mein Super-Sonder-Spezial-Lieblingsthema) gehen mir weiter dezent auf die Nerven. Immerhin ist #nheko gut einsatzfähig.
I inquired about disabling presence information in #Matrix#Element desktop on #privacy grounds (it amounts to location tracking if, for example, you have home and office sessions, and while Matrix session names can be private, session existence cannot), and was told that "its low priority given most servers have presence entirely disabled, like matrix.org".
This is very disappointing, although I don't know how official that stance is. I've asked my admin to look into disabling presence.
Gave Element a try and wasn’t really a fan. There are lot of confusing settings. And the e2ee requires local storage and some encryption key you must bring everywhere. Oh and you can’t log off easily. For now I’ll stick with the Revolt hobbyist project. Lot of good people on there. #foss#discord#element#revolt#gaming#char
