Fresh stitching project dropped off today.
Looking forward to a start.
Cheaper to get from Germany than from the UK where its made thanks to #Brexit & stupid charges
Okay, its a terrible picture and its not ironed cause its way too hot to iron. The pattern is straight, fabric is just bundled up under it.
#DeathByCrossStitch by #LongDogSamplers. Stitched on white 16ct aida fabric, using approx 370 metres of black DMC thread, 6 needles used. Final stitched area is - 55cm wide and 69cm high.
This was a labour of love, a challenge, a reward to myself, part of my #MentalHealth journey.
This is 140 out of 9000+ stitches and it took me three lengths of floss and an hour and a half. This is fine. It’s fine. I can totally finish by Christmas. :blobCat_blanket: :thisisfine: :yell2: @fiberarts#crossstitch#fiberarts#ChristmasCrafts
Myself and some friends from my crafty Discord are holding ourselves a “Discworld makealong”. And naturally we’d love to invite our friends in the Fediverse to join in too 🥳
No pressure. No deadlines. Just for fun. And any craft welcome!
So far knitting and cross stitch are well-represented but I’m sure we’ll pick up a few more along the way 😄
November 4th, through Hogswatch season, ending in the new year*. You’re very welcome to join in with your project at any point!.
Some of us will be on Mastodon under #DiscworldMAL. I for one will be on Lemmy too. And of course if you want to join the Discord, link’s in my bio, but not necessary if you’re not into that.
(Oh and for those of you who have no idea what Discworld is or what I’m talking about, congratulations you’ve got 41 books to look forward to!)
*I suspect most projects will not actually be finished by then, because we’re slow and easily distracted. As demonstrated by me not posting about this until it’s a week away 🙃
After 8 years lusting over this pattern, Garden Cat is finally complete!
This was the first pattern I ever really had my eye on when I was just a newbling, and now after restarting it last year, it's done. I'm so happy, and as you can see way too overexcited to iron it properly before posting.
p.s. people on Lemmy this post has two pics attached so let's see how those display (if at all) on your side. Yay science!
Okay, so here's what 3/4 of Death by Cross Stitch looks like. This pattern is huge, I had to get the tall teenager to hold it up so I could get a picture.
Death by Cross Stitch is the name of the pattern by Long Dog Samplers. Thread is DMC 310 and the fabric is white 16 count aida.
Two projects I'm working on. The alpaca is roughly half-done and on hold until I finish the memorial project. I did some work on it last night and this morning...and I was late for work because I got carried away. Ah well. At this rate it should be done in a couple of days.
I've decided to work on my full coverage project for #24HoursOfCrossStitch, as this one hasn't had any love for a couple weeks so it'll feel good to get some progress.
Of course, at 2 over 1 on 28ct fabric, 24 hours is often less visible progress than you might think 😅
The pattern is "Autumn Stories" from Paine Free Crafts, and for reference I'm currently at 25.26% complete!
Good luck to anyone else taking part. I believe in you!
Why is it so hard to find a nice 14” embroidery hoop for display??? Both Etsy and Amazon the only ones I can find that big are the cheap flimsy bamboo ones. I’ve literally spent an hour searching, and all of the nice pretty ones top out at 12” max, which is 3/4 of an inch too small for my design!! Argh!!! #crossstitch@fiberarts
Who's gearing up for 24 Hours of Cross Stitch this weekend?
For once I've actually remembered its happening, so to celebrate maybe I'll actually take part! Not sure I can really manage 24 whole hours but maybe if I make it a long weekend and fudge the numbers slightly 😅
Only problem is I'm supposed to be #sewing this weekend as well...hmm this is gonna be a busy few days!
Its done.
The Advent SAL is finally done, I love that its in the shape of a snowglobe!
The full pattern is available now from Climbing Goat Designs, its called Snowflakes and Stars.
Page 9 out of 16 done. Time to move the hoop for page 10.
I've got new motivation to get this one done, I won't start the forest witch until this is done. Hoping to have Death by Cross Stitch finished by May....I could finish it sooner, but I take long breaks from it.
This is definitely a slow stitch, or maybe I've just slowed down a lot. I've felt "pressured" with the SALs and other big projects lately, so its been nice to slow down with this project. I really do need to get the daylight lamp plugged in though before I wreck my eyes with this one. These threads are lovely to work with and I love the names of them, they make me smile.
My #crossstitch#wipwednesday this week - still working on the Tudor rose 🌹 ! Really happy with the color choices for using what I had laying around :blobfoxfloof_w_:
