Fergal Sharkey on #Channel4News says the water companies have taken £72 billion of our money and paid it to the shareholders
He then goes on to say that by setting up more water quality monitoring systems, they are giving the impression that they are doing something about it
With a measured tone, he says Ofwat has done nothing to enforce the law. Moreover, he highlights that the environment agency acted as an apologist for the water companies: "An unpaid lackey for the water industry" he says
Krishnan Gurumurthy in an interview with a Hamas spokesman on #Channel4News refers to Israel, the US and the UK having decreed Hamas will be excluded from any future set up for Palestine.
The Israeli occupiers and their US and UK arms suppliers have no right to dictate the future of the Palestine people, and they can all butt out.
Watching a homeless woman in Liverpool talking about her situation and breaking down. Over her shoulder a large union flag covers a wall inside a shop.
Apparently #Rwanda is the new #Brexit for many Tory MPs, Westminster is a hotbed of intrigue and the chibs are out for the wee nyaff. Mark François has emerged from under his rock.
Meanwhile, the Sadist Party's precious union swirls ever faster round the U-bend.
"The Oil Demand Sustainability Program (OSP) is a vast government program with dozens of projects aimed at embedding a high-carbon, #FossilFuel-dependent development model in countries across Africa and Asia. This includes meticulously researched plans to drive a major increase in gasoline and diesel-fuelled vehicles and boost jet fuel sales via increased air travel."
I want to take a moment to pay tribute to #MattFrei and #SecunderKermani, who have doggedly reported the news from #Gaza ever since the horrible chain of events was unleashed.
They provide the nearest thing possible to unbiased news coverage.
They are clearly both under strain, and Matt's voice is hoarse, but they continue their appointed task hour in, hour out. They are personally affected, not robots. They are emotional, but repress their grief.
What happened with the tragic missile explosion in Al Ahli Arab in hospital underlines the need of verifying facts. Not sufficient to merely accept information disseminated by various sides. During war, information may be instrumentalized for propaganda purposes. Such information should be vetted, especially if issuing sources have a history of false statements. During wars, the truth dies first. https://apnews.com/article/israel-palestinians-hamas-war-hospital-rocket-gaza-e0fa550faa4678f024797b72132452e3
@LukaszOlejnik odd then that two days ago #Channel4News, the UK national broadcaster reported independent analyses (using doppler analysis from multiple videos of the impact, and ground impact analysis) done by NGOs which specialise in area.
This they said showed that the missile originated from the East, not the West as claimed by IDF.
Israel's lies about the missile that hit the hospital in #Gaza are exposed.
Independent analysis:
doppler analysis shows origin from East not West as claimed by IDF
ground impact scars are consistent with this
audio analysis of recording, claimed by IDF to be Hamas operatives talking about a missile failure, show that it has been edited and put together from two sources and not to be regarded as authentic
@Miro_Collas There are sensible voices in Israel too, they just aren't politicians and rarely get heard. Not least some parents of the hostages.
The Israeli pilot who bombed Iran is one, speaking today on UK #Channel4News he suggested that this was an opportunity for peace, because as with Sadat in the past, Hamas have remained self respect through their 'victory' and that means there is, as in 1973, a chance for dialogue.
Unfortunately there isn't any political will in Israel.
In the aftermath of atrocities in #Palestine and #Israel the people put forward to be interviewed for the Israelis, such as their UK ambassador on #Channel4News tonight, tend to come across as batshit inhumane bullies, while those put forward by the Palestinians come across as rational and aware of the duel history, yet no less determined.
An exception tonight for the Israelis was Ehud Olmet, former Israeli PM who talked sense.
UK Electoral Commission hack exposed name and address of 40 million UK voters.
The hackers had access for over a year before detection and it took a further ten months for the #ElectoralCommission to disclose the breach.
Hackers had access to the name and address of everyone of 40 million UK voters on the electoral roll from 2015 onwards (not just the public roll). #security#InfoSec#hacking
