From the perspective of a person who likes narrative games, enjoys a challenge, but doesn't want gameplay to be a chore, would #Celeste be a good purchase?
Some of the descriptions say that it's filled with "hardcore" platforming. I like the look of it, and I love a good story, but the "hardcore" aspect gives me pause.
Okay Fediverse, this is a topic you might be able to help on:
I am awful at #Celeste - "I've never made it off the first zone" awful - and I've never found an assist option that helps other than by trivialising things (Invincibility). My general issue is that I always mix up dash/grip/jump, to the extent that at some point in a room I'll either forget one of them exists or press one by mistake thinking it's another. (This is after > 3 hrs, on and off).
Suggestions? #videogames
Little MDMRN (turning 15 in May) has gotten into cassettes lately. My parent's got them, effectively, a Walkman with a built in speaker. They've been blasting their one cassette, Tally Hall's "Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum" for a while.
I ordered them the Celeste soundtrack on cassette. I told them about it because it was supposedly 3 weeks out.
It's already shipping. They'll get it in less than a week from when I ordered it.
I think playing #Celeste might have broken the D-Pad on this #Logitech USB controller. I'm thinking I might need to invest in a Playstation controller to get through this game. #gaming
I started playing Celeste on a whim and I can't stop thinking about it. I love the assist mode options - dash assist brought it from "extremely frustrating, you should stop playing this if you're not having fun" to "challenging and I have to take breaks regularly but I want to keep playing". The pixel art and music are beautiful, and it has a very puzzle-y aspect to getting through rooms. Only partway through, but it's doing something interested with the story too.
Realizing #HRT is scheduled to start next month and I totally forgot that I need to have at least started playing #Celeste in order to be a legit #trans#genderqueer.
Also, not the best game to start when you still feel slightly sick.
Mistime something?.. Dead.
Misclick a button on your controller?.. Dead.
Miss a button on your controller in a complete panic?.. Better believe you’re dead! 💀
It’s so unforgiving, but it makes it even more enjoyable when you get past a particular section that feels like it’s taken forever!
maybe I can use this time to play some Tears of the Kingdom? I've only played it for about 3 hours since it came out... just couldn't get into it. exploring the same world just wasn't so appealing and felt like work after collecting the 900 korok seeds in Breath of the Wild...
managed to play #Celeste again. finished it in 5h instead of 10 in my first run. didn't feel brutally hard anymore and finished chapter 8 for the first time. 🏔️
Moved yet again, this time to a self-hosted firefish instance :3
I'm an AuDHD transbian girl being gay and silly on fedi. :spinny_cat_trans::spinny_cat_lesbian: I only recently started transitioning and I'm trying to be more open about my emotions. :neocat_floof_cute:
Expect lots of shitposts/random nonsense, selfies, gay yearning and emotion dumping (both positive and negative, but under a CW). ^^
I like video games, mostly indie and Nintendo ones (e.g. osu!, Touhou, TLoZ, Metroid, Celeste, Crypt of the NecroDancer etc), and I also stream them. ^^
I also listen to a lot of video game music and their covers, and I can talk about languages, though I almost never post about either for some reason.
Disclaimer: the above info is correct at the time of writing, but it will become outdated over time, as my hyperfixations shift around every few months. My overall set of interests is fairly static tho, so if I will be circling back to the previous ones eventually. :neocat_floof_happy:
I'm also a GNOME developer (mostly maintaining libadwaita and a few third party apps), and I will occasionally post updates about that, but this is my personal account first and foremost, so don't expect a lot of posts about it :3
I'm also developing a game emulator frontend called Highscore, but how many spoons I have for it varies wildly over time :neocat_sad:
