From the perspective of a person who likes narrative games, enjoys a challenge, but doesn't want gameplay to be a chore, would #Celeste be a good purchase?

Some of the descriptions say that it's filled with "hardcore" platforming. I like the look of it, and I love a good story, but the "hardcore" aspect gives me pause.

@brainofdane the reason Celeste's difficulty is not a problem here, is that you die and respawn in a second!

I finished both Limbo and Inside, but boy those respawn times where rough, at least I don't die as often as in Celeste

@joel oh, good! So, similar to Guacamelee where there are some screens that if you fall into the green goo, it just pops you back on the platform you jumped from?

@brainofdane there's a setting for that, but no.

Still, all levels are pretty much one screen so you would only lose a few steps whenever you die.

Except for the boss sections and escapes, those are longer and will start from the beginning. Still it's really satisfying once u beat it!

yeah, the game is divided into chapters. the chapters are divided into levels.
a level usually fits entirely on a screen.
when you fall, jump into spikes or anything alike, you are instantly placed back at the start of the screen.
some people say it's a rage game, but i disagree.

@brainofdane it’s a fantastic game and the gameplay is challenging but completely doable. There’s also plenty of settings to make it easier if it’s just too hard.

Might turn you into a girl though, so watch out for that

@danirabbit lol, thanks! I've heard it used in a sentence with "gayming" 😂 .

I'm glad there are settings to make it the right amount of challenging. I used to feel bad about that, but some modern game developers just want people to enjoy their game in whatever way makes them comfortable, which is fantastic!

@brainofdane yes absolutely! It’s a game where part of the point and the story is that it’s hard and you’re overcoming something you didn’t think you could do, so I recommend just trying your best first. But absolutely no shame in adjusting things so that it stays fun
