I never played #celeste when it came out but tomorrow they're releasing a new physical edition for the switch and I'm pretty excited. Hope I can find it someplace 🙂
Making a metroidvania-style thing in #cplusplus and #SDL2 inspired by #hollowknight. Don't know how far it'll go, but as linus torvalds once said, "This'll just be a small project, not anything big like the other contenders (or something like that)"
Currently finishing off a HK-style character controller system. It looks jaggedy, but I know that's just because of the lack of any animations, so the next step will be to integrate spritesheets and such. Then level elements and a loading system.
@mightyspaceman i don't find pixelart pleasing in various cases, however it can be utilised very nicely too. i think #Celeste is doing an excellent job on that, pixely and yet it's smooth, vibrant and most importantly, alive!
you can discuss with them your vision, maybe they actually would live up for the challenge 😊
but whatever route you take, cooperating with your friend or doing your own drawings and improving it in the meantime the most important thing is to have fun in the process! 🙂
